Have you ever imagined how it feels to be in someone else's shoes and to act, perform, think and get into the character of another person?

Pearl Academy took their Luxury Brand Management students to Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN) where the scholars got a chance to participate in a role play activity, the purpose of which was, to witness an equivalent feeling.

The Indian International Model United Nations (IIMUN), is a stage that prepares college students to realize the importance of the native, national and international scheme. Today, IIMUN has conducted over 108 conferences in several cities across the world with over 3200 committees, in which a total of 2,00,000 students have directly participated.

A group of four students - Suha Ansari, Tanima Dawar, Sayali Muley and Aghya Goel were attending the Indian International Model United Nations, who also represented the Luxury Brand Management group at the MUN (Model United Nations) held at IIM Ahmedabad between 25th to 27th of November 2016. MUN may be a copy of the real life United Nations, where participating students form teams to discuss about the current affairs. These teams influence the collaborating countries (students) to basically accept or discard a subject in discussion. One will attend either as a delegate or apply to be a part of the manager board depending on their experience in various MUNs.

MUN (Model United Nations) mostly targets high schools, but the IIMUN was an inter-college event. Students from all over the world have participated, which increases the content and database within the team discussions. Our Luxury Brand Management has performed extremely well in the debate sessions.

It was a three days conference, and different themes were decided for each day. The representatives were requested to wear Western Formals on the first and third day, whereas Indian Formals were decided for the second day.

They had a special section for the participants to experience the feel of Indian Parliament, where the participants were asked to enact as MPs and represent Indian political parties. One student during this Lok Sabha session was asked to represent the Shiv Sena party and one committee was assigned to discuss the resolution passed on the subject "Demonetization of Indian Currency to curb black money". Post discussions, the committee members had to go and convince other representatives to get votes in favour of the resolution. Through an expressive debate and convincing power, she won a "Special Mention for her Committee" - one amongst 3 awards to be given to participating students - where she received a medal and a certificate of excellence for performing well.

By experiencing these kind of situations, students discovered about how people may react in different situations, which strategy to choose and what might work for you.

IIMUN educated students about the world outside their college and one must always believe in finding that one thing in life, that examine their intelligence.
