1888 Press Release - The newly released Nano Driver sets industry standards for automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics, where small fastenings are common and combinations of materials, such as, metals and plastics need to be joined accurately.

Charleston-North Charleston, SC - Rock Hill, SC – Desoutter Industrial Tools, supplier of electric and pneumatic industrial tool solutions, unveiled a new model of their Nano Driver today. The newly developed transducerised electric screwdriver is ideal for industries that require high precision, low torque, and traceability.

This innovative product is capable of delivering torque between 4 oz•in (0.25 lb•in | 2.82 N•cm) and 113.3 oz•in (7.08 lb•in | 80 N•cm) across three models. The Nano Driver is equipped with a newly developed seating detection function that ensures each fastener is applied perfectly, without causing damage to the host material. This is particularly useful when working with delicate or brittle materials.

Since accurate repeatability is safety critical, the Nano Driver is second to none with its internal transducer. It measures and controls the torque and allows for production data to be recorded. The new Nano Driver is compatible with most industry standard communications protocols, such as, Fieldbus, Profinet, and Modbus. Information from the Nano Driver is integrated into existing data capture systems; this ensures all production parameters are fully traceable.

"A feature we are particularly excited about is the tool’s programmable vacuum system with an integral accelerometer," stated Russ Hughes, Product Marketing Manager for Desoutter Industrial Tools. He continued, "The device is available with either short (40mm) or long (60mm) blank nozzles and the high-performance Nano Driver accommodates 4 mm wing shank bits for the smallest screws." The user is able to switch easily between different fastening strategies using a CVIXS controller and standard Desoutter Software since the device is highly programmable.

Desoutter is committed to ergonomics when designing new tools. The ergonomic design and light-weight of the Nano Driver is ideal for hand-held operation due to its streamlined contour. The device includes a non-slip housing and simple push lever start. Equipped with an M20 output thread, the Nano Driver can be used in both, a hand-held or fixtured capacity – such as, with integration into an automated process via a robot arm.
