SSC CGL 2017: The Exam So Far

With the onset of SSC CGL, students are not missing out on a quick referral on the exam pattern and section difficulty levels. While preparation is in full swing, the day to day trend analysis of how the exam has been so far will help them determine the sections – their difficulty levels and how different they are spanning out every day.

Present below is a section-wise analysis on how they have spanned across from 5th August 2017 to 8th August 2017.

General Intelligence Section

• The major subjects that on an average had about 4-5 sections were Analogy, Series, Classification and a compilation of questions on miscellaneous topics.

• This Section was set to be moderately difficult on all the days of the exam for all the candidates making it a probable scoring section.

• Maximizing performance in this section could prove a huge factor in determining good scores of a candidate.

• There were only questions from these topics- Blood Relations, Direction Sense, Matrix, Syllogism, and Non-Verbal.

• There was not a single question from Mathematical Operations.

Language Section

• The English Language Section was tough with its high level of difficulty in terms of presenting twisted content and tricky ways of comprehension.

• The Cloze test had about 5 questions in this section with antonym-synonym questions.

• The other sections from where questions had been asked were Sentence Improvement, Detection of errors, Idioms, and Phrases.

• The difficult portions of this section were Substitution of one word and Antonym-Synonym.

• Para jumble was newly introduced this year in the exam.

• About 16-18 questions could be attempted easily.

Quantitative Aptitude

• The Quantitative Section was slated to be at a moderately difficult level.

• There were predominantly questions from Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Profit, and Loss.

• There were 5 questions from Data Interpretation which was set to be moderately easy.

• The other topics that were tested were Time and Work, Geometry, Speed and Distance and Mensuration.

• About attempt of 20 questions was considered ideal in this section.

General Knowledge:

• About 7-8 questions were asked from Science which were on a moderate to easy level.

• History and Polity were topics next in order that on an average had about 5-6 questions.

• Other questions were asked from History, Geography and Economics.

• The question pattern was well-rounded asking all questions from General Awareness.

• An attempt of 13-15 questions was considered optimum to qualify this section on a total count of 25.

• The attempt limit has been set lowest for this section keeping in mind the difficulty level of the paper and the way in which candidates would be attempting the same.

Ssc Cgl is conducted in 120 cities across India in multiple shifts. The SSC CGL Exam centers are segregated into 9 main regions. Applicants should indicate their preference regarding their centers for SSC CGL 2017. The commission reserves a right to determine the final allotment of the exam centers for the candidates. If any changes regarding the exam centers require being made, the same would stand notified on the regional offices as well as regional newspapers in the region.
