SITUATION AND CLIMATE

Tanzania is surrounded by 8 different countries: Kenya, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The country is bounded in the east by the Indian Ocean and is made of mountains, steppes, savannas and forests. The interior of the country has a temperate climate and the coast a humid equatorial climate. The dry season lasts from June to October and December to February.

There are two rainy seasons: the "main rain season" from mid-March to mid-May, and the "small rain season" from November until mid-December.

Here are the seasons that we recommend you for the discovery of the national parks:

Tarangire : from July to February.

Lake Manyara : most birds between June and October.

Ngorongoro : most beautiful landscapes between June and October.

Serengeti : the migration season is the most spectacular (June, July and November), but there are animals all the year. They are more scattered during the rainy season and therefore less easily observable.

Kilimanjaro : prefer the dry season.

POST AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Stamps can be bought at post offices and in major hotels. A postcard to Europe takes about 15 days to arrive. Telephone networks are functioning relatively well, even in most parks. Mobile phones are numerous and the 4 national operators are Vodacom, Celtel, Tigo and Zantel. There are many internet cafes in big cities such as Arusha, Dar Es Salaam and Stone Town.
