Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made shells of tooth-colored materials designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve your appearance. These shells are bonded to the front of the teeth to change their color, shape, size, or length. It is one of the simplest and effective ways to create winning smiles.
What is the purpose of using Dental Veneers?
- They are used to treat discolored teeth.
- They are also used to recover worn out teeth.
- Dental veneers are used for the teeth which are chipped or broken.
- They are used for treating unevenly shaped teeth.
- They are used to close the gap between the teeth.
How are Dental Veneers actually applied?
- Dental veneers are not appropriate for all. So the first step is to have a talk about using dental veneers with your dentist. He will examine your teeth with X-ray and check if it is suitable for you to apply dental veneers, as once applied they can’t be taken off.
- A perfect shade is chosen for your perfect smile. Choose light color but don’t go unnaturally white! Give your teeth a natural touch.
- Your dentist will prepare your teeth for
- As it is a permanent placement, before placing the dental veneers permanently to your teeth your dentist will try and put the veneer temporarily on your teeth to check the shape and size and will make required adjustments in the dental veneers. Next, your tooth is cleaned, polished and etched which roughens the surface of the tooth to make strong bonding with the dental veneers. A special cement is applied to the veneer and then the veneer is placed on your tooth. Once the veneer is applied your dentist will put a beam of light over the veneer to make the chemical bonding stronger.
- The final step involves the removing of extra cement from the tooth.
- Your dentist may ask you to visit him on certain occasions, so don’t ignore his call and make the right visit to your dentist as and when required.
