Facts you must know about Ram Nath Kovind

Ram Nath Kovind is the 14th Honorable President of India. He was born in October 1945 to a family in Kanpur district to Maikulal, who ran a small shop to make meager earnings for a family consisting of 7 children – 5 boys and 2 girls in total.
Once he completed his school education, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and an LLB degree from DAV College affiliated to Kanpur University. He further came up to Delhi to give the Civil Services Examination which he cleared on the third attempt. However, he resorted to pursuing law as a job in the allied services was offered to him.
He began as an advocated enrolled with the bar council of Delhi to become the Central Government Advocate in the Delhi High Court for about 2 years. After that, he served as the Personal Assistant to a former Prime Minister- Morarji Desai for another successive period of 2 years. He provided free legal aid to the women and weaker sections of the society under the Free Legal Aid Society in New Delhi.
He was appointed Member of Parliament in 1994 and served for a period of twelve years. He was a part of a committee that worked for the welfare of the Reserved Category, Law and Justice, Social Justice, Home Affairs and Petroleum and Natural Gas. He has visited Pakistan, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, France, United States and the United Kingdom on various study tours.
In August 2015, he was appointed as the Governor of Bihar. His tenure in this post is praised for his contribution in bringing up irregularities in promoting undeserving teachers and misappropriation of funds.
Once he was nominated for the post of being the 14th President of India, he submitted his resignation as the Governor of Bihar and Former President Pranab Mukherjee resigned on 20 June 2017. Ram Nath Kovind won with 65.65% of votes and took oath on 25th July 2017.
In the context of violent events happening in the country, in a recent speech, Ram Nath Kovind strongly condemned any violent activity causing damage to public property and asked everyone to maintain peace and order. He was also happy to announce that India would be expanding ties for economic and development co=operation with Nepal as per the "National Priority".
He has also expressed condolences over the lives of citizens that have gone over in Nepal Floods. There were about eight high-level visits in the past three years and is now moving over to a relationship with significant international cooperation. The president has congratulated Nepal over having two successful phase of elections with the support of the people and the Government.
