Refresh Your Skin with Microdermabrasion
Posted: Sep 12, 2017
Eliminating your face of age spots, clogged pores and dead skin doesn’t need to be painful and involve extensive recovery times. Microdermabrasion gives you smooth, younger looking skin with no real down time.
What is Microdermabrasion?
It is a skin rejuvenation treatment that buffs away the dead skin layer giving you a youthful and healthy glow. The procedure uses an aluminium oxide crystal or diamond studded tip to gently and effectively exfoliate the outer layer of skin and vacuum suction removes the dead skin cells, using a single handpiece attached to microdermabrasion machine. It is a wonderful non-invasive and non-surgical procedure perfect for removing fine lines, sun spots, age spots, acne, enlarged pores, wrinkles and surface acne scars.
Additionally, it stimulates collagen production and gives the skin a fresh and youthful look. Although face is the most common area for this procedure, it can also be done on any part of the body including neck, chest, hands and back.
What to Expect?
A microdermabrasion treatment usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Anaesthesia is not required, however, patients may feel a mild scratching sensation and a vibrating sensation along with the suction. Skin may appear slightly pink after the session which would return to normal within half an hour. You will immediately feel a difference in your skin after the treatment as this procedure removes up to three times the number of dead skin cells. Microdermabrasion treatment is suitable for all skin types and all ages.
How many Sessions Required?
The machine has settings which are widely adjustable helping therapists to tailor the treatment to individual skin types and problems. The therapists first assess the skin and then advices on the number of treatment sessions required for desired results. Treatment is typically recommended every two to four weeks to see a continued improvement in the condition of the skin. Good skin care regime, sun avoidance and use of sunscreen are recommended to achieve the maximum results.
Are there any Side Effects?
As microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure and is limited only to the outer layer of the skin, the side effects are minimal. The temporary side effects include slight skin tightness, redness, bruising and sensitivity, but moisturiser will address this.
For most superficial skin problems, look no further than microdermabrasion. For more information on the device and how it works contact
