How to fly a drone

The drones are in fashion, there's no doubt about it. However, when you watch a video on Youtube, everything seems very easy. Then your newly bought one arrives, you throw it to fly, and... it goes to the ground. You try again, it seems you do it and... back to the ground. Flying a drone like Kai Deng K130 ALPHA is not easy, so in this article, we'll explain some simple tips on how to fly a drone.

Here are some basic tips that you should understand and apply when you decide to fly a drone:

  1. The speed of descent must be lower: Upwards, when you are in the open field, there is no danger of your drone crashing against something (unless you have very bad luck and pass a bird there). However, in decline, the ground is approaching. One of the best tips is to get off at an acceptable pace, with a low speed.
  2. On exteriors, remove the propeller guard: It may look counterintuitive, but the propeller guards are the most anti-aerodynamic element you can find. Take it off, and you'll notice how it gains stability.

3. Do not rise too much: This, for several reasons. The first is that the law does not allow it. There are reasons that will convince you more: first, the wind gusts are very strong and can destabilize your RC Quadcopter quickly. And, on the other hand, remember that you do not know how to fly your drone. It may seem fun to upload it to the top and record your city from above, but the truth is that when the drone falls and the camera becomes dust, you will not have any video to show.

  1. Do not be nervous: I know that when you have in your hands a toy that can reach 500 Euros and that seems to fall and break into a thousand pieces, it is difficult to maintain control. But, no doubt, you have to do it. Otherwise, be sure to end up crashing. It is best to practice at a low height to master it.
  2. Read the instructions: We are very accustomed to trying things without reading the instructions. With the drones, that's not a good idea. Reading the instructions can give you some clues on how to fly it. In addition, they are instructions that are generally very useful and fully inform about their control.
  3. Set the return system: Some drones have a return system that causes the drone, even when it loses the signal from the remote control, to fly in the direction of the point that you have marked. Set it up correctly and activate it. Thus, you will be less likely to lose the drone if a gust of wind takes you beyond the reach of your command.
  4. Automatic landing button: Most drones have a button on the automatic landing knob. Make sure you know which button activates this option since if you see that the flight is out of control, pressing it in time can save you from a great shock.

How to fly a drone with the command

The command is the main element when it comes to piloting your drone. Therefore, we recommend reading the instructions, because in them you will surely see what function each button has.

However, there are some features common to all drones related to flight control, and are as follows:

  • Joystick left to raise or lower: You can also rotate the drone if you move it to the right or left (this will change your perspective).
  • Right joystick for horizontal movements: That is, to move it to the right left, forward or backward. Basically, it is the joystick that you will use more once you take it off unless you want to change the height or rotate the drone (that would be with the left joystick).

Usually there are some extra buttons on the remote with special functions (like automatic landing, acrobatics, etc.) but in that case, each model is different, so you should review the instruction manual.

As you can see, flying a drone is not easy, however, with these tips; you will reduce the risk of your drone falling from a great height. Remember that not only your drone is at stake, but also the health and even the lives of people who pass through the street at the moment you are flying the drone. Be careful!
