There are four major signs you should look out for or pay attention to, to know that it is time your Ford ECM undergoes repair or should go for complete replacement. These signs are; you will notice that engine light of Ford ECM is on. Though there could be other reasons for engine light to be on, but in majority of instances `on’ engine light is a sign of faulty ECM. Safest when you see red engine light is to take it to mechanic or at least to call and apprise him of it.
The second sign to look out for is that your car will refuse to start. When you take it to a mechanic he checks battery etc. and finds everything to be okay. In such a case starting problem is happening because of problematic ECM of Ford and technician will advise you to replace Ford ECM to set the problem in order. The third sign to look out for is that your car will have transmission issues or you will experience jerks while driving and fourth and last issue is you will notice that your car is consuming a lot of fuel, i.e. its fuel efficiency has gone down.
When you notice any of these you should immediately take your car to a mechanic and have it checked. The sooner the problems are identified, the sooner you can do something about it, because if they are allowed to persist they will affect performance of other parts which will finally lead to more wear and tear; and repair costs of car will unnecessarily shoot up.
