Online GST Registration Process in India

GST has been implemented and most of the Businesses needto on GST portal. Earlier person were already registered on VAT, Service Tax or Excise and traders have doneGST Migration. The person who wants to register in the GST can go to the GST Common Portal and do all the GST Registration with all the information and documents.

If your business is small and you understand the GST, then you can register under GST Composition scheme and GST Return filing.In case your business is a bit bigger and you do not know much about GST, then you should get GST related work done from a CA or GST Expert so that there is no problem.

Taxable Person

Traders are GST taxable person those who are with annual Rs.20 lakh in GST (Rs 10 lakh in North Eastern States). Businesses that are less than the Annual Turnover exemption limit are not required to take registration normally. But even in some cases it is mandatory to take registration even when the turnover is low.

Documents Required

Copy of Primary Documents related to business and owner (owner / proprietor / partners / directors). For complete list of all required documents Proprietorship, Partnership and Company's GST Registration

As soon as you click on Proceed, you will get a Temporarily Reference Number (TRN) and save it. Because your registration is not completed, these TNRs will work very well. If you want to login back, you will be able to do this TRN only.

After saving TRN, click on Proceed and Part- A of your GST registration will be completed.

After this you will have to complete Part B. After saving TRN, clicking on Proceed will take you to the next page. You can also access this page by going to the Home page and clicking "Register Now" in Taxpayer.You will have the option of New Registration and Temporarily Reference Number (TRN), now you have to select Temporarily Reference Number (TRN).

After that your mobile number on the e-mail and the same will be the same OTP, fill it on the next page in the column of Mobile / Email OTP and click on Proceed.

After this you will have a draft of your saved application. In the right side, the action shown in the column is to click on Edit option.

Online GST Registration

You will see ten types of options as soon as you click. In which you will have to fill the information according to the document.

Business Details

In which you have to give complete information about your business. Such as

  • Name of Business
  • Trade Name
  • What kind of business is that (Constitution of Business)
  • PAN
  • District Name
  • Details of State,
  • Division Code,
  • Range Code

Personal details

  • Name and Father Name
  • Mobile no
  • Email id,
  • Date of Birth
  • Details of Partner
  • Residential Address

Authorized Signatory

You will need to add Primary Authorized Signatory, and give your details like:

  • Name,
  • Phone no.
  • Email address.

Then the Document Upload will be done by entering Identify information and Residential address.

Authorized Representative

In this column you will have to fill all the details of your business. Such as: - Business unit address, nature of the Place, nature of business By filling out the address of Proof of Business, and clicking on Save & Continue.

Additional Place of Business

If your business is in any other place, you can fill in the details here. Then click on Save & Continue.

Goods and Services

In this, you will need to provide the details of the HSN Code and SAC Code and at least the Top 5 Goods and Service details.

Verification

In this, you have to tick down the Verification and select Name of Authorized Signatory, Place and Date. You can then submit it by DSC, E-Signature or EVC. After which you will be given a Acknowledgment Number within 15 days. By which you can check the status of your GST registration.

After a few days of submitting, if the officer agrees with your given information, your GST registration will be completed. After that you will get a GSTIN, Username and Password.

You will have to fill Part-A of Form GSTREG-01. And will have to give PAN, mobile number, and E-mail ID, and then submit your form.

Your PAN will be verified on GST Portal and the Mobile number, and E-mail ID will be verified by one-time password (OTP).

Now you have to enter the application reference number in Part-B of GST REG-01, which you have received on the maze or in the mobile inbox. Now submit the form with all the necessary documents.

Constitution of taxpayer

  • Partnership deed
  • Registration Certificate
  • Other proof of constitution
  • Proof of principle

For rent or leased premises

  • Rent / lease agreement Home owner's documents
  • Property tax receipt or municipal account copy Or electricity bill
  • Bank account related proof
  • Scanned cop and bank statement to get before the passbook of the bank account.

If you have correctly provided all information in Form GST REG-01 or Form GST REG-04, then you will receive three days after the submission of the registration certificate form.
