Management of the companies is on the constant discovery of methods as well as strategies which can help to reduce excessive production. The rising cost of the raw materials forces the management to give a second thought while preparing the budget of any year. It has therefore become mandatory to utilize all the resources in an optimum manner. In order to do this, one of the methods that are applied by the company is Total Productive Maintenance.

Total Productive Maintenance is an interesting method with the help of which a company can achieve wonderful results. The primary aim of this method is to reduce the number of waste by improving the condition of the machines thereby increasing their operational efficiency. The emergence of this method mainly arose in order to address three major losses that were arising at the companies that are defect in the quality of products, breakdown of equipments in the middle of production and losses due to the minor stoppages in the production belt.

It was researched and found out that all these three losses could be prevented to a significant extent, if only a proper method is applied. TPM is the only strategy that can be adopted in order to prevent the losses. It was in the year 1960, when this method was implemented with five important S that are sustained, standardize, shine, set in order and sort. There are eight important pillars on which Total Productive Maintenance firmly lies. They are autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, quality maintenance, focused improvement, early equipment management, training and education and TPM in administration.

Each one of them has got a special purpose. Autonomous maintenance is mainly concerned about cleaning and lubricating the machines in order to keep them in good condition, in case of planned maintenance, the machine is cleaned and repaired when it is not used for production. In case of focused improvement the problems encountered by the workers during the production process are solved by a cross functional team.

Many TPM Books are available in the market today which gives training and education to the engineers as well as to the people who are working in the production department of any company. They contain various techniques and methods which teach the worker on how to maintain equipments easily. Managers are the ones who gain much knowledge from such books as they contain chapters on diverse topics such as development and coaching of the employee.

Pressure Vessel Books on the other hand deals with the subject pressure vessel. It mainly finds its usage in the designing of cylinders as well as chambers where it is necessary to store gas at a certain pressure. They are largely used across the industrial sector. In an aircraft, it is the passenger cabin that makes use of the pressure vessel. It helps to maintain the necessary pressure thereby enabling the aircraft floating in the air. Most of them are either cylindrical or spherical in nature. It is specially designed by maintaining all the industrial standards.
