China is a huge country, and its need for English teachers is even greater. Recruitment companies like Haida HR China are emerging as big players in providing employment to teaching personnel, especially English teachers.

With a population of over 1.3 billion and a renewed focus on English in schools, the demand for teachers is growing across the educational spectrum in China. The eligibility requirements to teach in China are fairly accessible compared to other Asian countries, with university degrees and teaching experience not always needed.

Combined with an extensive array of locations and schools, teaching jobs in China can be great options for all types of teachers. As the cherry on top, the country itself has much to offer in terms of culture, language, travel opportunities, and food.

According to a representative from Haida Interact International Compant Ltd., a leading recruitment company in China, most of the recruitment companies in China offer jobs with bare essential documentation. All that one needs, is a Bachelor’s degree or higher, a passport with validity of at least 6 months, Certificate of No Criminal Record and a fully completed application form along with a 2x2 inch photo. The candidate must also possess TESOL, TEFL, CELTA and other relevant teaching certificates (120 hours and above). While Teacher Interns are not required to hold any experience, full-time teachers are required to hold at least one year of teaching experience.

And that’s not it. Chinese institutions offer pretty lucrative salaries to English teachers. Earning an average $1,600 per month might be tricky in New York, but in China, your money goes far — especially if your employer provides or subsidizes your accommodations, as many will do. What you do with your earnings each month after you’ve bought food and paid your bills is entirely up to you. If you position your application correctly, you can get a monthly salary of up to $3,000.

In the words of an experienced EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher who got hired through Haida HR, China is a great country to work in: "My students and colleagues were some of the most likable people I’ve ever met. Bright, hardworking, confident, and good-humored, they did everything they could to make me feel at home. They offered to teach me Chinese, bought me gifts, and made me part of their intramural teams. Looking back on my time in China brings me immense satisfaction. It’s something I’ll never forget."

I wanted to work outside the country but wasn’t sure about the decision. I heard about Haida HR, but then again I never intended to go to China. Somehow I went with the flow but now I look back at my decision and feel very good about myself.
