Africa is a hub for renewable sources of energy that have not yet been used. Major power that is derived today has been through fossil fuels. High disparity in population density, infrastructure, economic level, and distance between energy sources and consumers inflict a discrepancy in a complex energy system among regions. This incurs challenges in developing sustainable energy system as well as policy.

Much of the developing world is still heavily reliant on coal and biofuels. Despite massive investments in solar and wind power, developing nations like Africa are still set to be prolific polluters. When it comes to the African region, however, something rather interesting is happening: Many of its countries are set to leapfrog over coal and head straight for clean energy electricity sources.

"The age of fossil fuels is over. As we act to curb a growing climate crisis and move to a 100% renewable energy future let’s ensure we prioritize projects that are either wholly or partially owned by communities, municipalities, farmer associations, and Indigenous Nations. Let’s move to renewables in a way that ensures more equality and justice for everyone. A better world is possible. Let’s speed her arrival." – as per Mike Hudema – Climate and Energy Campaigner at Greenpeace

Africa is a developing country without a proper source of electricity and a population of over 700 million. Though coal is a cheap energy producer, it is on the verge of being exhausted due to its large usage in producing energy. To counter-act the effects of coal producing energy, Africa is going to be using its natural environment to produce clean energy without any harm to its environment. Renewable sources have become a perfect alternative source of producing cost-effective and clean energy.

To discuss the updates in the Renewable Energy sector, Bricsa Consulting is set to host its 2nd edition of the Power Tech Africa conference known as 2nd Annual Power Tech Africa conference on the 22nd – 23rd January, 2018 at Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi, Kenya. This conference is set to provide insights into the power sector of the African region. It will provide an in-depth knowledge of how Africa’s natural resources can be utilised to produce clean, renewable energy; thus producing enough electricity to light the whole continent.

Bricsa Consulting’s this 2nd edition will be a gathering for power sector leaders to converge at and discuss the issues faced in the region for producing enough energy to light the whole continent, especially the rural regions. 2nd Annual Power Tech conference will be discussing topics such as: Grid strength – in many Sub-Saharan African countries grid upgrades are still required to provide robust electricity backbone to their economies as well as Bankability of power purchase agreements – sovereign backing of PPA’s still remains an issue, Politics – investors need political and policy certainty, wariness of investing in unstable economies, or those wracked by war, unrest and corruption; while in some markets sticking to execution timeframes appears to be an additional risk.

Other topics that will be enlightened in this conference are: Maintenance of Stakeholder Relations by using the Big Data Analysis and its effect in maintaining a balanced sustainable community. Decentralization of Power Generation system in Rural Areas and the challenges faced by decentralizing the power generating system. A discussion on the mechanisms of Hybrid Energy System will also be a vast part of this conference.

New FDI (Foreign direct investment) policies in the Power Sector and its effectiveness in creating policy for supply of imported raw materials required in production & transmission, along with the current FDI framework for the gas market in Eastern Africa, will also be a topic of discussion.

Thus, Bricsa Consulting is providing a perfect platform for all the energy sector leaders to converge under a single roof and discuss regarding the energy sector at its 2nd Annual Power Tech Africa conference which will be held on 22nd – 23rd January, 2018 at Villa Rosa Kempinski in Nairobi, Kenya.
