Engineering Branches under CoEP

CoEP (College of Engineering Pune) is one of the oldest colleges in Asia and it is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. It is an autonomous institution which imparts quality technical education to their students. The college offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses through various departments.

The college offers B.Tech degree in numerous branches which were opened in CoEP in the 19th and 20th century. The technical undergraduate degree is offered in nine disciplines by the College of Engineering Pune. The nine disciplines are-

1. Applied Science:

Applied Science is a scientific field in which we apply the existing scientific knowledge to deal with the practical problems and to come out with a new technology and innovations. The Applied science course under CoEP is multidisciplinary which includes science subjects, advanced engineering, professional communication, IPR, entrepreneurship development, environmental science, humanities, critical thinking and much more. It is an interesting course for those who like to study diversified subjects.

2. Civil Engineering:

Civil Engineering is the oldest discipline of CoEP. The civil engineering course of this college aims at building a strong technical knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, applied research and innovation. The institute takes care of imparting adequate practical knowledge along with the theory. The college also helps the students to file patents and sponsor the Research and Development projects.

3. Computer Science and IT:

As India is a hub of Information and Technology, Computer Science and IT branch is the most preferred branch among the students. It is the youngest branch of CoEP. Annually, College of Engineering Pune takes 60 students each in Computer Science and IT branch through entrance exam. Students of Computer Science & IT branch participates in various Competitions and develops developmental projects. They are recruited by multinational companies in India and outside India.

4. Electrical Engineering:

Electrical Engineering Department of this institution has a long history of 83 years. Its highly experienced teaching staff and well-equipped laboratories make it one of the best of its kind in the country. The department conducts various workshops for the students and makes them work on the future technologies like Green energy that will contribute to the national building.

5. Electronics and Telecommunication:

The students of Electronics and Telecommunication branch of CoEP get the excellent technological infrastructure and resources which enables them to work and research in the areas of cutting-edge technologies. The students implement their innovative ideas in the field of VLSI design, Power Electronics, Embedded systems, Communication Networks, EMI and much more.

6. Instrumentation and Control:

The engineers from this branch are required for the smooth working of the Industrial Production. College of Engineering Pune imparts competent knowledge of the Industry Automation to their students. The students are updated with the recent technical activities in the market. Companies like Rockwell Automation, Indian Air Force, TCS, etc hire students from the campus.

7. Mechanical:

The Mechanical engineering department of the college was established in the year 1912. This department has a history of producing quality engineers. The department has collaborated with various well-known industries to impart practical knowledge to their students.

8. Metallurgy:

The institute offers state of the art technical education to their students of Metallurgy and fulfills the growing demand of skilled workforce in this sector. The students can also specialization courses after completing the undergraduate degree.

9. Production Engineering:

With the change in policy structure in terms of economic growth, the demand for manufacturing and production has increased. The engineers from this branch work in various areas like manufacturing, quality management, designing and marketing.

The students can select the branch as per their interest and can pursue their career in the branch selected by them through CoEP.
