Do Fishing in Costa Rica And Have Some Good Fun

Quepos is the focal point of fishing in Costa Rica, but there are some other places as well which are widely known as fishing stations like Puntarenas, the resorts at the southern end of Nicoya Peninsula, Jaco Beach, Punta Leona and at Drake Bay and many more. Manuel Antonio is also one of the safest regions to enjoy the fad fishing and sport fishing.

Billfish is the primary goal of most of the fishermen sailing in the Costa Rica. They are at times baffled from around December to April. Fishing in Quepos is most adventurous and thrilling. Here you could sail 12 to 20 miles in the ocean where most of the billfish activity is experienced.

Inshore fishing includes fish, rooster fish, wahoo, dorado, jacks, mackerel, cubera, an assortment of little snapper species and even snook. The snook can be taken trotting recently outside the breaker line off the stream mouths in the region, however are all the more regularly angled from shore.

Quepos fishing charters offer multi-day tours to the Drake Bay and Caño's Island territory, over nighting at one of the few cabins based on Drake Bay. This zone is best known for its wahoo, percher fish, dorado, sails and some marlins.

September to November are considered the best time to find the Marlin. At this time of the year, the water remain shallow and with less fishing activities, Marlin is more likely to be found around the shores.

Sailfish could be best found in middle of December till April and then they they start moving north. A couple of sails appear between June through September, blended with alternate species that are discovered inshore amid those months.

Between June to September you would also likely to find billfish easily. This is the time they are up and down in the Pacific drift. Most of them usually weights between 8 to 12 pounds. Although, some of the bill fish captured are around 150-200 pounds.

Wahoo not regular in the zone around Quepos, but in the late summer they could be easily spotted in south, particularly around the Drake Bay and Caño's Island territory from late June to early August. On the other hand, Dorado’s best activity starts with the winter rains that begin in late May and wash flotsam and jetsam from the stream mouths making the inshore waste lines that the dolphin support.
