Black screen issues with the Mozilla Firefox browser can cause frustration for almost all Windows PC users. Often, this problem occurs without any warning or error and when you’re already logged into the browser. When it happens frequently, and for an extended period of time, you should instantly consult with the professionals by dialing the Mozilla Firefox customer service number. Otherwise, it severely affects your browsing experience and the productivity.

How to Resolve Black Screen Problems with Firefox

You have some solutions that can fix the black screen issue with your browser. You just have to perform an in-depth troubleshooting to diagnose and repair the Firefox issues. Take a look at one of the outlined workarounds.

Fix 1 - Scan your PC for viruses

If your computer is misbehaving and even your browser as well, it may be possible that viruses infect your PC. Unfortunately, such kinds of problems are quite usual, particularly for those who work over the web. Sometimes, external devices such as external hard drives and memory sticks play a critical role in entering viruses on your computer. Before you go forward, you should first scan your system for viruses using a trusted antivirus program or firewall. After completing the scan, you have to restart your CP and check if the error has gone.

Fix 2 – Remove the recently installed application

If you notice that the black screen issue starts occurring after installing new software on your PC, it’s likely that the program is interfering with your browser. Usually, newly installed antivirus software can interfere with other applications currently installed on your PC. Actually, if you have established a lot of third-party software, it means that you’re putting your PC at risk. At such time, you have to select these programs and uninstall them sequentially. To uninstall a program, do the following.

  • Go to the Windows Control Panel, and then click the ‘Uninstall a Program’ link to remove the software.
  • After each removal, it’s suggested to reboot the PC and open your browser to see if the error still exists.
  • This quick solution is helpful if you start facing the issue with your browser just after updating the graphics driver. You can solve the problem only restoring the prior version. Obviously, you do not need to remove the firewall and antivirus. Just turn them off on a temporary basis.

Fix 3 - Turn off Hardware Acceleration

If the black screen issue with your Firefox browser continues even after disabling the antivirus and uninstalling the recently installed software, you can try this solution to fix the issue. Turning off Hardware Acceleration within Firefox can be helpful to solve the problems. To disable it, follow these steps:

  • Go to your Firewall browser, and then click the Settings icon, followed by the ‘Options’ tab.
  • Click the ‘General’ tab, and then go to the Performance folder.
  • Deselect the Hardware Acceleration checkbox, which is always selected by default.
  • Fix 4 — Run Firefox in Safe Mode

Running Firefox in Safe Mode allows you to solve the blank screen issue. Problematic add-ons you just added to your browser can be the possible cause of this problem. By default, it turns off all add-ons on your browser when you run it in Safe Mode. This is the excellent way to find out the cause of the issue. By pressing and holding the Shift key, you can run your browser in Safe Mode quickly. Otherwise, you can try these steps:

  • Click the Settings icon at the top right side of the browser’s screen. Now, the window appears showing the help icon that is labeled as the blue ‘?’ beside the Customize option.
  • Click on that icon to obtain the help menu, and then the option labeled as the ‘’Restart with Add-ons Disabled.’ Click the ‘Restart’ button on the pop-up window that appears.
  • Choose the Start in Safe Mode option once the window appears. Now, you can check that the error is continuing.
  • However, if your Firefox browser is still experiencing the black screen issue and now of the above fixes solve the problems, you can either call the Mozilla customer care online to seek immediate solutions or try these methods to troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems.
