A breath taking apparel that has become a staple for Bridal wear is the Ghagra Choli. Invoking a sense of grandeur in its every fiber, the ghagra choli which is also popularly known as lehenga choli is an ethnic feast for eyes. The trend of ghagra initiated from the royal land of Rajasthan which at that time was known as the Chaniya choli. It was a rather daily staple of the ladies and was worn as a mark of comfort. Slowly the chaniya changed to ghagra which was essentially worn by folk dancers that had a flare. With the changing times, the ghagra paved path for a more contemporary design – the Lehenga’s. With magnificent fabric and lustrous appeal, the lehenga’s quickly took a stance as the perfect garment for bridals owing to its magna opulence.

So essentially the lehenga or the Ghagra choli consists of three distinct parts- one is the lehenga or the skirt, the other is the choli or the blouse and the third consists of dupatta or drape that completes the ensemble. The beauty of this threefold breakthrough is that one can easily modify the draping style and get a completely new look. One can drape it in form of a half saree, a complete saree, a front palla or some other unique flavour to help out get a trendy appeal.

While selecting a ghagra choli, it is very much essential to be well aware and updated about the different curated options at hand to make the best decision. Some of the important factors that will guide you in proper decision making are the following:

  • Fabric: - Fabric is essentially the skeleton of the attire. With an apt fabric one can easily get the desired look. Parameters for selecting a fabric could be weather conditions and the kind of look one is looking out for. For summer seasons, one can opt for fabrics such as shimmer cotton, crepe or georgette. For winter season velvet and satin could be good options. Tulle is a good choice for getting a princess like flared and bouncy skirted look while net or sheer can be ideal for a gorgeous diva look. Brocade, jacquard and silk are other options to explore. Plethora of options is available in the market and the one that accentuates the entire appeal of the dress should be selected.
  • Colours and shades- Colours play a vital role in enhancing the appeal of the attire. With dashing and vibrant hues the entire look of the lehenga can be made mesmerizing. In addition to reds and oranges, try for shades of mauves, burgundy, turquoise, and lilac for a unique look. In fact, pastels are quite in and contrasting shades of pastels can be selected.
  • Patterns- The next important thing to consider while looking for a Ghagra Choli is the pattern. Pattern could differ in many ways. Here is a list worth exploring:
  • Ghagra or lehenga pattern- The
lehengas forms one of the important parts of the ensemble. It is the part which shows the most and hence a pattern that oozes out its beauty in the most glamorous manner should be opted for. Here are some of the patterns that one can try on:
  • A Line pattern
  • Fishtail or Mermaid pattern
  • Pleated pattern
  • Panelled styled
  • Ball gown style

Every pattern is amazing in itself. While an A line pattern or a ball gown style will give you a princess like feel, the mermaid pattern speaks of a more accentuated style that flatters the body silhouette. Panelled or Pleated formats give a straight and long appeal. A pattern that befits ones figure and suits ones taste should be chosen.

  • Choli-The choli also comes in myriad patterns. You can play with necklines and sleeve patterns. Necklines such as plunging in different shapes or the traditional tied up string pattern can be opted. For a more contemporary touch go for boat line, halter or off shoulder pattern. A glam appeal can be instantly invoked with sheer blouses or net patterned blouses. For sleeves, sleeveless, half, three fourth or full design pattern can be selected. Full sleeves with embroidery designs embossed all over all also in vogue these days
  • Chunni or duppata- Well the duppata is inevitably the most important part of the attire. Duppata or chuni with laces, beads or sequins can instantly dazzle its appeal. One can also go for huge borders or printed versions like tie and dye patterns or leheriya. Stone embeds and embossments could add a touch of divinity.

Once you are eyed on your favourite attire, the next step is to choose for right kind of accessories. Only the apt accessory can help to give you the perfect look. Go for large chunk of jewellery but ensure that you do not go overboard with them. So grab your desired piece and flaunt it with style
