No more you have to transfer data from iPhone and iPads to computers to get printouts, because now the iPhone can be directly connected to the printer.

Method 1: AirPrint

AirPrint is s a feature offered with iOS operating systems that supports printing via Wi-Fi. To use the AirPrint feature of your iPhone or iPad, you just need to have AirPrint-compatible printers. HP, Canon, Brother, or Epson have specific AirPrint compatible printers.

By performing the below mentioned steps you can easily take printouts through your iDevices:

  • First configure your iPhone and your AirPrint compatible printer to use AirPrint. For configuration support you can read the tutorials that come along with the printers. Also, many such tutorials are available online. Configuring is very simple and can be done in just two or three simple steps.
  • While configuring the printer, it is important to make sure that your printer and your iPhone are in the same wireless network.
  • Now, you need to open the application that stores the items that you have to print. However, it is important that the applications are compatible with AirPrint, and then only the data stored in these applications will get subjected to printing. This is not an issue as most of the applications in iPhone and other iOS devices like Safari, Mail, iPhoto and others are very much compatible with AirPrint.
  • After opening the application, select the item that you want to print. Tap on the item, and select "Share." There you will get a list of options that also includes the "print" option. Select the "print" option to initiate the process.
  • The "Share" and "Print" command works for all the items stored in your iPhone like documents, images, text messages etc, but if you wish to print e-mails and web pages, then you need to click on the in-built print button on those pages.
  • After clicking the "Print" command, you will get a screen that will list all the printers available in your Wi-Fi network. Select the one that you know to be AirPrint compatible. This will link your iPhone with printer.
  • Once the linking up with the printer is done, you can enter your choice for number of pages, number of copies and can also do other changes in settings like landscape or portrait etc.
  • Finally tap on the "Print" button and get the printed copy of your document, e-mail or picture etc.

Method 2: iTunes Applications

If you don’t have an AirPrint printer, then by using iTunes apps, you can get the printouts. Visit iTunes App Store and check out various printer apps and select them for downloading. Some of the most used printer apps are mentioned below:

  • HP ePrint: It’s a free printing app that supports HP printers and performs over any Internet connection.
  • App Print: This app is compatible with all kinds of printers, including AirPrint printers. The app is capable of printing multiple file types and is compatible with iOS 5 & iOS 6.
