The holidays are times for joyous celebrations with your friends and loved ones. It is also a time for some good food and drinks as well, with so many kinds of holiday cuisine available. With all the wonderful food, you would still need to make sure that you are healthy. While there is a long list of drugstores in the Philippines that would provide you the best medicine, there are some delicious recipes that would also help do the trick. Here is a list of healthy recipes that you can try out in the upcoming holidays.

Fresh Ham with Rep Pepper Glaze

Ham is a classic Christmas staple, which is why getting a healthier version would be great for your friends and family. Here is how to prepare this healthy take on the popular holiday meat.

Ingredients:

Brine and Ham

  • 10-12 pounds fresh ham
  • 6 quarts water
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 cup kosher salt
  • 12 allspice berries
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 12 whole cloves

Red Pepper Glaze

  • cup honey
  • cup red pepper jelly
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

For Roasting

  • 3 tablespoons minced fresh thyme
  • 5 cloves chopped garlic
  • 6 medium leeks
  • teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Recipe

  1. Heat the water along with 1 cup salt, cloves, allspice bay leaves, and 2 cups brown sugar in medium to low heat. Add ice during stirring to cool the liquid
  2. Store the ham into the mixture and refrigerate for 2-3 days
  3. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit
  4. Pound the thyme garlic, and salt into a mortar and pestle, and stir into a pot of red pepper. Rub the paste all over the ham after drying it.
  5. Trim the leeks then place in water
  6. Arrange the leeks into the roasting pan
  7. Roast the ham for 20 minutes
  8. Add the honey, jelly, ginger, and brown sugar into a saucepan and heat and mix
  9. Brush the ham with the glaze mixture
  10. Reduce the temperature to 300 degrees and brush again
  11. Place the ham in a foil for 20 minutes before preparing.
  • Candy Corn’ Chicken Quesadillas

The Halloween is a time for sweets, which is why you should add some good protein in your dish. Here is how to prepare this classic chicken dish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups roast chicken
  • 3 tablespoons salsa
  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 slices white cheddar cheese
  • 1 ½ tablespoons green chilly
  • 1 sliced sharp cheddar
  • 1 small block Tillamook

Recipe:

  1. Preheat the oven 350 degrees
  2. Cut the tortillas into a triangle, and leave the bottom part uncut to resemble a candy corn.
  3. Mix the salsa and sour cream into a bowl
  4. Combine the chilies, the salsa mixture, and chicken into a bowl and add salt and pepper.
  5. Place the mixture into the tortillas
  6. Cut the cheese to cover the tortilla, and create a candy corn pattern.
  7. Place the quesadillas into the oven and bake until the cheese melts.
