F&L Designer Guides’ Biggest Proposal No-No’s

Proposing is hard. Everyone knows it. Even when the process does not follow the strict traditional format that includes the cliché getting down-on-one-knee scene, there is still a significant amount of pressure riding on any bride or groom’s shoulders when the time comes to ask the all-important question.

It is also known that pressure will, more often than not, lead to nervousness and fumbling. When added to the fact that most couples will be inexperienced in the art of proposing (it should, after all, ideally be a one-time situation), this can lead to potential faux-pas, which can single-handedly destroy the entire, carefully planned ceremony.

Fortunately, at F&L Designer Guides, we do not want that to happen to you. Which is why we have compiled a list of mistakes that you should ideally try to avoid if you want to ensure that your proposal will go off without a hitch. Some of them may, at first glance, seem trivial or obvious, but trust us and take heed. Here, then, is F&L Designer Guides’ list of biggest proposal no-no’s.

Don’t Stutter

We know that you are going to be nervous, but so will your partner. They will need someone to reassure them that they are making the correct decision, and stuttering over your words is no way to do so. Even if you are quaking inside, try to sound assertive and self-assured. Be careful not to overdo it, though, as you could come across sounding ‘brash’ and ‘cocky’ and this is not what you want.

Don’t Do It at the Wrong Time

You may have planned to propose to your significant other on a certain date or at a specific time, but remember that this does not always go to plan. If for some reason an unforeseen circumstance gets in the way of your special moment, do not just rush into it anyway. Wait. You may have the ring in your pocket and the candlelit table set, but if the other person is not feeling well or the mood is not right then you are that much more likely to hear something you don’t want to.

Don’t Forget the Ring

This one may seem like a no-brainer, but trust us, it happens. Many of the F&L Designer Guides’ associates that specialise in this creating these stunning rings hear stories all the time about forgotten rings, because it more common that we think. Forgetting the symbol of the union when preparing to propose may seem silly, but again, your nerves may betray you. Don’t come across as an absent-minded professor and remember that it never hurts to double check.

Make Sure Everything is to Their Liking

There is no use preparing a romantic dinner and buying a large diamond if your partner is more into the idea of the great outdoors. Conversely, don’t book a camping trip if your significant other is all about designer shoes and trips to Milan. Half the secret for a successful proposal is in the setting in which you choose to propose, so make sure you choose a special one for your moment.

So, there you have our list of perhaps obvious, but nevertheless useful hints on mistakes to avoid when seeking a successful proposal, courtesy of F&L Designer Guides.
