An HR (Heavy Rigid) truck contains three or more axles and includes vehicles, such as prime mover, mobile crane, bus, truck, and so on. This makes it relatively lighter than other trucks, such as MR (Medium Rigid), MC (Multi Combination), and others.

The difference between the driving HR trucks and other trucks comes mainly from the difference in their size and weight. If the individual is shifting from a car to an MR truck, the driving experience would not be very significantly different. The MR truck can do pretty well on the road even by using just the right side mirror. If, however, the driver makes the transition from driving cars to HR driver job will surely have to adjust his/her mirror using strategy. Due to the huge size of HR trucks, the utilization of both the mirrors becomes absolutely necessary. Without making this transition, the individual can never become good at HR driving.

Your job will become successful only if you are smooth at driving your HR truck. If you are transitioning from other light-weight trucks or cars then you will have to make several changes in your driving style. One of such changes is the usage of clutch. Drivers of light-weight trucks tend to have a habit of keeping their foot on the clutch. Such a habit will surely not work while driving HR trucks because it will make you lose the balance of the truck.

There will be times when HR truck jobs will take you as far as North Queensland. If the visit takes you there during the rainy season, your truck will completely determine your experience. If you're riding the HR trucks then you would not face any problem due to the excessive number of tires present in the vehicles. However, if you come across standing water, even an HR truck might start giving problems. Your experience with the rain would not so convenient if you are driving other trucks, such as MR or MC. The number of tyres and weight in these trucks are relatively less and so is their capability to resist the wet-road slipperiness. One rain-related difficulty that is common amongst both HR truck and other truck drivers is the reduced visibility. The driving condition becomes equally difficult for both HR and other forms of trucks. Although with the increase in experience in driving HR trucks, people become competent enough to properly manage such difficult situation.
