Why is Your Mobile App Crashing?

It does not get any more frustrating when the application needed and used by you is getting crashed, especially if it is happening consistently. Does not make any difference if the app is for Android or iOS and the reassurance from the developers that it will not happen again do not help. And, surprisingly, there are plenty of users who are not complaining about their apps crashing – so what is the reason behind those two completely different experiences?

Some issues are strictly related to the device of the user and this is usually the case, but there are certain scenarios where the developer can be the one to blame as well.

Issues caused by the User:

Internet Connection

If your internet connection is poor and you are having problems connecting to the online world, you might end up with a non-working app.

Switching between your mobile internet and home/work Wi-Fi can lead to a crash in your app as well. A frequent switch can be harmful to the app and its abilities.

Not Enough Space

Having too many apps and not enough space can be another cause that you easily fix – make sure that your device is enough space to support the needed apps as too many of them can harm it. The occasional clean up of old and unused apps can not only prevent other apps from crashing, but your device will run smoother.

Issues Cause by the Developer

App Code Bugs

The most common and disturbing issues come from a bug in the app code, even though any new feature should be tested numerous times before releasing.

Traffic

The supply and demand balance (or imbalance) might be crashing the app as well. If the app is not specifically built to withstand heavy traffic, you should be careful when using it a lot.

Cheap Hardware

Some Android-powered devices fall under the category of „cheap hardware" which leads to incompatibility with some apps. Not all Androids are the same and the developer might need to consider this if the app is released to the mass market, but this issue is not restricted to only Android users.

Front End issue

Another common problem might be appearing from a poorly created front-end leading to many unnecessary crashes. The developer must have optimized the front-end to the best of the app's necessities to ensure a smooth running.

Back End Integration Issues

Probably the most notorious issue that can be causing a certain app to crash on your device is the badly integrated back-end. While some developers might be underestimating the role of the back-end, it must ensure that it can handle all requests coming from the front-end – if not, issues start to appear and you have a crashed app.

Issues Connected to the Browser

Web-based apps are becoming more and more affordable and intriguing for the customer and developers are following the trend. However, such an app should be tested numerous times with different browsers as incompatibility can cause a major breakdown.
