The leaves are almost done changing colors and they are now starting to fall. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, this marks the beginning of the end of the autumn season and the commencement of the holiday season. While there are many items that need to be taken care of for the holiday season for any person, there will especially be added planning for anyone who works at a church. From priests and pastors to those taking care of the church’s finances, everyone kicks into overdrive during the holiday season. Since there is so much to be handled around the holiday season, it can be difficult to realize everything that needs to be done. Luckily, the list below can help you plan for the upcoming holiday season at your church.

Plan a Church Christmas Party

As the days get shorter and colder, the countdown to Christmas begins. There is no better way for your church and its congregation to get in the holiday spirit than by planning a church Christmas party. You can call upon members of the church to step up in helping with the planning of such a wonderful event, or if you have a director of events at your church, they can handle the load. Whoever ends up planning the party will have a full plate, between planning food vendors, games for children and families, church Christmas decorations, and much much more!

Prepare for an Increase in Church Attendance

As the holiday season approaches, people will begin to come to church who do not usually attend during the year. This is nothing for them to be ashamed of, and as someone who takes part in running the church, you should welcome these people with open arms. It is not always easy for people to come to church, and the fact that they are making an effort to come should make you happy as a regular church-goer. If you plan the arrangements for your church, it is your responsibility to make sure that the church has a large enough area to seat your parishioners. There are many styles of arranging your congregation, from straight, to fan, to semi-circle, and more. Whatever you decide on, make sure it is inviting and that people will want to come back to your church even more throughout the year.

Final Thoughts

The holiday season is one of the most joyous times of the entire year. Everyone becomes happier and more festive and it truly shows throughout the population. While it is usually considered a carefree time, if you are someone who takes part in running a church, it is your busy time of the year. With increased people attending the church, planning a Christmas party, and so many other necessary activities, it can at times be a bit overwhelming. However, get in the holiday spirit and understand that while it may be a tad more stressful for you during this time of year, it will truly make everyone’s year better if you put in the extra work. So great prepared, and have a wonderful time this holiday season!
