The prom night is a special night for any girl. The preparation process is very complicated as a girl needs to care for all the aspects of her appearance. The hairstyle is probably the second most important item that you must take care off, after the prom dress. The first thing that you need to decide is whether you will be wearing your hair up or down. We would advise you to choose one of the many gorgeous shoulder length prom hairstyles. These type of hairstyles are great because they frame the face and soften the features.

Curls

If your hair is medium to long, you might want to consider some lazy curls for your prom night. These are the most simple shoulder length prom hairstyles. You only need to know how to use a curling iron or another type of curling product. If you have a delicate dress, you should try some beach curls whilst if you have a more daring dress you should consider a crimped hairstyle. If you think that curls are too simple for a prom hairstyle, you could combine them with side twists or side french braids.

Low buns and updos

Updos are the most sophisticated hairstyles but they can be too elegant for the prom night. Furthermore, they are not suited for any girl as they reveal the face features and the neckline completely. However, there are certain buns and updos that you can turn into fabulous shoulder length hairstyles. All you have to do is secure the bun as low as possible without compromising its stability. You can style it in a side bun or you can choose a chic chignon.

Loose strands

The most fabulous shoulder length prom hairstyles are the buns with loose strands. These type of hairstyles can be either elegant or casual. In order for them to be elegant, the loose strands should be styled in curls and the overall hairstyle should be very well fixed. If you want to achieve a more casual look, you can choose a messy style with seemingly random loose strands.

Bobs and faux bobs

The bob is the type of hairstyle which will never go out of style. If you want to rock this hairstyle on your prom night but you are afraid of cutting your long hair, you might want to try a faux bob. This look is best achieved with a layered haircut. All you have to do is secure the longest strands of your hair in a tight bun on the back of your head. Once you do that, you use the shoulder length strands in order to cover the bun. You can style the layered strands straight or you can curl them if they hang lower than your shoulder line.
