When you are young, with full of energy and vigor; missing one night of sleep is not a big deal. You can even sustain insufficient sleep for a few days consecutively.

However, as you grow old, things change gradually. Just one night of disturbed sleep makes the next day terrible.

Research says that the lack of sleep triggers the secretion of a specific brain protein which is said to be associated with serious neurological troubles such as Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Continuous disruption may trigger the increase in another brain protein. It is said to be responsible for brain damage.

Those who take care of senior citizens in old age Home in Pune follow the strict sleeping routine to avoid health issues.

Get up refreshed and happy after a full night’s sleep

Your morning depends on how you slept in the previous night. A person would awake in a fresh and cheerful mood if he had a sound sleep.

A disturbed sleep does exactly the opposite. You feel dull, sleepy and exhausted. There is trouble in concentrating and recollecting the things.

Sometimes, the thoughts become haphazard, and you get confused about pretty obvious things. It makes the job of caretakers in Dementia care homes in Pune further difficult.

Research programs confirm the correlation

According to the scientific generals, the research program took a sample of randomly selected middle-aged people having sleep disorders.

Their regular sleep pattern was observed for a few days, and then people who had regularly insufficient sound sleep were chosen for further study.

They were given soundproof, cozy rooms that contain all the necessary conditions needed for a sound sleep. They had t wear headphones over the ears and electrodes connected to their scalp.

Half of the people had a sound sleep for a few nights whereas the other half had disturbed sleep through a controlled system.

The levels of proteins compared excessively high in patients who had the disturbed sleep.

Looking at the hectic work schedule and improper sleeping habits, it is a high probability of increase in dementia patients in our country.

We can predict that amongst the majority of people living in the old age Home in Pune will suffer from Dementia.

Probable health risks

Increase in brain proteins such as Amyloid Beta or Tau due to sleep disruption has shown a significant correlation between brain disorders and neurological problems.

Chronic poor sleep during the middle age increases the risk.

The studies conducted on patients characterized by gradual loss of memory and cognitive decline showed that in the brains of patients there were plaques of Tau and Amyloid Beta protein. These two can cause destruction and atrophy of brain tissues.

Poor sleep also increases the risk of cognitive problems. Sleep disruption due to sleep apnea has long-term health implications. It increases the risk of heart trouble and diabetes.

Though there is no formal study has been done in any of the Dementia care homes in Pune or another place in our country so far, there is a need for it to establish correlation.
