Have you ever heard of the term 'moobs'? Moobs, or the short term for man boobs are the unsightly presence of excess fat tissues in a man's chest area. This appears to be embarrassing especially if you've been wanting to go topless or wear those muscle shirts for quite some time. In this article, we will be talking about how to get rid of moobs.

What Causes Man Boobs?

Gynecomastia or "Gyno" is a condition where the enlarged male chest tissue is caused by a hormonal imbalance. Male hormones control fat storage in certain areas of the body. When there is a lack of testosterone and a higher presence of estrogen in males, it can affect where the fatty tissues are stored. As a result, there will be presence of fat deposits in male breasts.

Do I Have Gyno?

One common sign of gynecomastia is a larger than usual breast in males. When touched, there is a felt presence of chest tissue just under the nipple, aside from the fat tissue surrounding the chest. The enlargement can be present in one side, or both.

Some may have experience dimpling of skin, or having inverted nipples, but this manifestation is not as common. There are also instances of milky discharge due to the hormonal imbalance. The appearance of milk discharge, however, is also rare. Males who experience gynecomastia frequently have anxieties and self-esteem issues due to the enlarged breasts, and may worry about having cancerous tumors. Gynecomastia is usually benign in nature.

Gynecomastia is best treated when the underlying cause is brought to attention. If you are diagnosed by a physician, you will be presented with various treatments depending on the cause and severity of the condition. Here are some of the treatments that may be presented to you after diagnosis.

1. Breast Reduction Pills

During the first two years of diagnosis, medical treatment is recommended to see if the breast size can be reduced using hormone-correcting pills. An example of these medications is gynectrol, that stimulates the body to produce testosterone. The product is said to improve male chest appearance by reducing fat tissues.

2. Surgery

If chronic gynecomastia is present, you may be advised to undergo corrective surgery to get rid of the excess fat tissue. You can either undergo liposuction or fat tissue removal.

3. Radiation Therapy

Another possible treatment option that may be discussed to you would be radiation therapy. This is common for other men who suffer from gynecomastia as a result of other conditions such as prostate cancer or kidney problems. When provided with radiation therapy, there is a decrease in breast enlargement as well as treatment of other conditions related to the disease.
