Xiaomi Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus confirmed to launch with MIUI 9

Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in China on December 7. While the specs of both the smartphones have been leaked before, now some new information has now surfaced online which reveals that both the Samsung Galaxy S6 repair parts will ship with MIUI 9 out of the box. MIUI 9 is the company’s latest Android-based skin, MIUI, and it comes with a number of enhancements over MIUI 8.

A new manual of the Redmi 5 has now leaked online that reveals that the device will have a hybrid dual-sim slot. So, one has to either use two SIM cards or a SIM and a microSD card. There is also a disclaimer in the manual that says only one 4G SIM card can be used in the device. Further, the manual shows the three circular sensors at the top bezel of the device suggesting the device might feature a soft selfie flash with the selfie camera and a proximity sensor.

Xiaomi has also posted a new image on microblogging website Weibo, which has confirmed that the Redmi 5 and the Redmi 5 Plus will come with the company’s latest MIUI 9 out of the box. The MIUI 9 is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system.

As far as specifications of Xiaomi Redmi 5 are concerned, it will feature a 5.7-inch display that supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels along with support for 18:9 aspect ratio. It is reported to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. For the camera, the smartphone is said to feature a rear camera of 12-megapixel. However, a previous report has suggested that the device will feature a rear camera of 8-megapixel and front camera of 6-megapixel. The 3GB RAM with 16GB internal memory variant of the Redmi 5 will be priced at 799 Yuan and its 3GB RAM with 32GB internal memory will cost 899 Yuan ($136).

As per earlier leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus smartphone is said to feature a 5.9-inch full HD+ display with a possible 18:9 aspect ratio, and a Snapdragon 625 SoC or Snapdragon 630 SoC. It will possibly launch in two variants of 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, which could be a combination of a 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras. The Samsung Galaxy S6 LCD screen replacement will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat based MIUI 9 and it will be backed up by 4000 mAh battery. The 32 GB version of the Redmi 5 Plus is expected to be priced at 99 Yuan (~$150) while 64 GB variant is rumoured to arrive with a pricing of 1,299 Yuan (~$195).
