Along with the reintroduction of Board Exams in Class 10 CBSE, the board has also brought a noticeable change in the scheme of assessment for the 10th grade. As per the new structure of assessment, the term systems and CCE have been replaced with one single yearly exam by the CBSE board itself. The exam that will be held by the CBSE board will have 80 marks and the rest of the 20 marks will be allotted for the Internal Assessment that happen in the schools.

The Internal Assessment will have;

Periodic Tests or PT with 10 marks weightage to each of them

5 marks will be assigned for Notebook submissions

5 marks will be assigned for Subject Enrichment Activities

Three written Periodic tests will be conducted in the whole academic year and the average among the best two would be considered for final marks weightage.for gradient learning purposes, three such periodic Tests could be held as one of them being a mid term test and the rest two being pre mid and post mid term test with the syllabus portions covered cumulatively.

You can get the class 10 CBSE new pattern for exams and the marking scheme below:

1. Board examination of 80 marks

The CBSE board will be conducting the class 10 examination for students for 80 marks in all the subjects and it will cover 100 percent of all the subjects taught in class 10. Students must score 33 percent marks of 80 marks in all the subjects. The grades and marks both will be given for each subject. The 9 point grading will be the same just like it is followed by the CBSE board for class 12.

2. 20 Marks for Internal Assessment

Students must secure 33 percent of the marks of 20 internal marks for every subject. The internal assessment will contain periodic tests, which will be three tests with each of them carrying 10 marks. The average from two best performances will be considered while allotting the final marks. These tests will help the students prepare thoroughly for the final exam. The next part of internal assessment is notebook submission which will value the regularity of the student,neatness, assignment completion and completing the notebook. Notebook submission will carry five marks. The next five marks will be for Subject Enrichment activity. This will involve evaluating the listening and speaking skills of the child pertaining to languages. Lab work and practical for science. And practicals for math labs for mathematics. Maps and project works for social science will be considered too.

It is still to be seen how the new pattern of CBSE examination goes with the kids of grade 10. Going by the evaluation scheme allotted for Subject Enrichment Activities, it does sound more friendly towards excellence in the subject. How kids will like it is only a matter of time's answer.
