How The Technology Works

Done by installing client software on the handset. The software detects the location of a handset through cell identification, signal strengths. If the handset is equipped with Global Positioning System or GPS, then the more precise position can be determined.

4.Wi-Fi-based

Crowdsourced Wifi signals can be utilized to get a handset’s location and is often used when GPS method fails especially within indoors. Here Wi-Fi-based indoor positioning can be used for tracking.

5.Hybrid Method

As the name suggests, this method uses a combination of network-based and handset-based technologies for location determination. Assisted GPS (A-GPS) is an example.
