You can’t beat a group ski holiday, but it can be challenging to pick a resort that you will all enjoy. This is particularly true if you’re a mixed bag in terms of skiing ability. However, I always recommend Courchevel in The Three Valleys to groups, as its facilities and atmosphere have something fun in store for everyone. It is also easy to reach by opting for a shared or private ride from Geneva to Courchevel. Transfers with Shuttle Direct are your most convenient and comfortable option, but we’ll return to that later!

Now, let’s talk about why this resort is so well-suited to bigger groups. Here are a few of my favourite perks.

Size & Facilities

The sheer size of the resort and the Three Valleys ski area means that it is difficult to get bored here, as no two days will be the same. This also means that you can always find something to do and split off into smaller groups if you feel like doing something different. The facilities are excellent, and although it can be expensive, there are lots of bargains to capitalise on if you do your research. Two-star hotels, self-catering accommodation and several high-end places are available, as well as fantastic shopping, restaurants, bars and more.

Varied Skiing

The Three Valleys is the largest integrated ski area in the entire world, which means that there is more than enough to keep every ability level entertained and challenged – you are sure to live up to your full skiing potential here! There are 318 marked downhill pistes in the 600-kilometre area, with Courchevel having around 150 kilometres of this skiing paradise.

Along with the pistes in the neighbouring resort of La Tania, there are 23 greens, 34 blues, 32 reds and ten black runs to master, offering a balanced level that is perfect for mixed-ability groups. To round it all off, the lift system is second to none – its quick gondolas and chairlifts allow you to get around the entire area in the blink of an eye.

Other Activities

There is more than enough skiing to keep you all going during your holiday, but another reason that I like this resort is that it has lots of terrific alternative activities for days on which you don’t feel like shredding powder. Here are a few that I highly recommend checking out as a group.

Fat biking – Cycling through the snow is a fun and unique experience that will give you a completely different perspective on the beautiful surroundings. This is especially true if you try this activity at night.

Hang Gliding – Soar high above the Three Valleys for mesmerising views of this beautiful part of the world. In addition to the jaw-dropping views, this is an adrenaline-inducing experience that will have you all talking about it for days to come.

Ice Climbing – The thrill of conquering a gorgeous frozen mountain stream is entirely unique and a must-try activity. This activity is perfect for all abilities, thanks to the range of falls available and the excellent guides, who will help you to navigate the ice safely.

How to Get There

You have a few options for getting to the resort, but I recommend flying into Geneva Airport (GVA). The flight from the UK takes around 90 minutes, and is made regularly by a handful of budget carriers. To get from Geneva to Courchevel, transfers with the leading service of Shuttle Direct are available, taking around three hours. This economical service, which offers shared and private rides, can even transport ski equipment free of charge!

Thanks to the size, variety of skiing and range of great activities, I think that Courchevel is a great place for a group ski holiday, ensuring that everyone has a fun, memorable and valuable experience.
