We find the use of pipes in all walks of manufacturing and fabrication. It is one of the most versatile means of transporting liquids and fluids and one of the most robust. It does not move and so there is minimal friction loss.

Use in oil industry

The main industry where we find pipes in use in plenty is the gas and oil industry. This industry cannot survive without pipes of all sizes to keep the oil flowing. The Seamless Stainless Steel Pipe Manufacturers in Mumbai could tell you more about the demand they have from the commercial sector. Besides this, the water board also needs many pipes. When there is a new construction site coming up the entire site needs water and with it they need pipes.

Seamless steel pipes have an inherent advantage over the regular stainless steel pipe in that we make them from one single block of steel. They are then welded end to end to form one continuous chain. Stainless steel is corrosion resistant due to the addition of chromium. Chromium prevents the rust from forming. During the welding process, the choice of the filler metal will determine the quality of the pipe. If you expose the pipe to heat for a long time, carbides will form and prevent the action of chromium oxide. This will result in rust formation because only the chromium will stop the pipe from rusting. So, limit the exposure to heat for a short period and decreasing the sensitivity of the weld.

Applications using stainless steel tubes

The Seamless Stainless Steel Tubes Suppliers can give you the best quality pipes you need for your industry. Stainless steel pipes find use in applications such as automobiles, instrumentation, surface condensers, fluid piping, heat exchangers, and evaporators. You can find in many industries such as construction, pesticides, textile machinery, pharmaceuticals, desalination, breweries, refineries, and petrochemical industry.

Due to the difficulty in classifying pipes and tubes, we distinguish them according to their function. Also, we need to specify the type and grade. For many applications, we prefer type 304 stainless steel because it has high resistance to chemicals and corrosion. But, if the temperature in the application rises above 800 degrees Fahrenheit and below 1640 degrees Fahrenheit then you cannot use 304 type stainless steel because carbide precipitation begins to occur. In such a situation, we resort to 304L due to the lower carbon content. You can do welding and use it higher temperature applications without any problems.

Use of ferritic steel

The general steel tubing having good resistance to corrosion that one can use for the applications consist of ferritic or martensitic steel. These are the steels having the most amount of chromium. You can make them in either heat-treatment or the annealing process. Better than these are the austenitic stainless steels. They have high chromium and nickel.

The other applications of the stainless steel pipe include use in high-pressure applications where you use seamless, welded pipes, and electrical fusion welded pipe. You also find it in use in the sanitary tubing. Here sanitation is a high priority. The stainless steel used is corrosion resistant and easy to clean.
