What is a "Crane Cable Reel"?

Although Cable Reels are devices around which cables are rolled, to be specific, it is, also referred to as electrical cord or power reels, are used to provide power to electric hoists Typically made of steel, modern reels comprise of stainless steel bodies with steel ropes strong enough to endure extremely heavy lifting. These reels are available for light-weight application too. It is pertinent to choose the right kind of Reel before proceeding with the designated activities. The technique behind the working of a Cable Reel involves releasing and contracting of the rope from the cable reel.

How it works?

These are meant to perform several functions, four of the primary ones being:

  1. Stretching: The cable can be stretched vertically or horizontally. However in this procedure, the cable is horizontally stretched while the reel remains positioned in one place.
  2. Lifting: When the reel lifts the cable vertically in sync with the hoist, it is known as lifting.
  3. Dragging: When the reel drags the cable either horizontally or with the ground, while being in a stationary position, it is known as dragging.
  4. Retrieving: The reel does the task of retrieving the cable. This is typically done after the performance of a specific task or in case the cable length needs to be shortened.

You must figure out the cable length requirement for the task at hand before diving into it. To adjust the correct cable length, you will need a personnel trained in measuring the correct length as per the task at hand (dragging, retrieving, etc.).

Modern Day Reels

The modern-day cable reels are easy to install and come with boom and length angle indication features. They’re also compatible with crane safety load indicator systems i.e. the display, the load cell and the two anti block switch. They can endure extreme temperatures (also depending upon what kind of reels they are, for example, meant for gases, water, hot and cold weather etc. In addition to that, it is extremely easy to install them.

Benefits

Two of the best and the most rugged Cable Reels are offered by LSI Wireless. Their Reels are wireless and are meant for comprehensive boom length & angle indication with 140 feet of steel

cable and a self orienting angle sensor, this is designed to be a comprehensive solution for boom angle and length indication.

The installation is pretty simple too, taking roughly no more than an hour to install. It has great endurance even in the worst of temperatures and can confirm automatically calculated trim & scale if

you set the retracted and extended boom lengths. The mini cable reel is 32 feet long angle and the length sensors are read, 4 times per second, with this data being transmitted to the display. It has

an angle sensor accuracy of 0.2. These are definitely the safest choices to make when it comes toCrane Reel Cables.
