Dr. Hari Om I.A.S An Eminent Poet

No one can think that a boy born in a small village known as Katari of Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh will become an IAS officer and that boy is none other than Dr. Hari Om IAS. He completed his higher education from Allahabad University and went to Jawahar Lal University where he did his Masters in Hindi Literature. After that he had completed Master in Governance, Political Economy and Public Policy from the International Institute of Social Studies, Netherland. Dr. Hari Om is an IAS officer of 1997 batch. He served as District Magistrate in 11 districts including Kanpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur and Gorakhpur. He has been conferred with many awards such as Rajbhasha Award, the Tulsi Shri Award, Firaq Award, International Poetry Award, the Awadh Gaurav Samman and the Uttar Pradesh Award. He is not only an Officer but is also famous as a famous poet in India who had written many poems and gazals.
The poetries of Dr. Hari Om are very famous in Lucknow and he is very prominent poet in India. He began his journey as poet with his first book ‘’Dhoop Ka Parcham’’ published in 2002 which followed the traditions of poet Dushyant Kumar. Basically Dhoop Ka Parcham is a collection of ghazals written by Dr. Hari Om. This collection contains nearly 70 ghazals which were wrote during the years of 1990s. The young coupled with the dynamism of a young officer visualizes society with an urge to make it better for the poor and downtrodden. The subtle observations of surroundings, deep insights into situations and problems, the quest for equality and the drive to attack the hypocrisy in the dominant classes are the key elements in these ghazals. This is a sheer co-incident that Hari Om also nurtured his sensitivity and sensibility in the city of Allahabad during his college days where Dushyant himself lived and wrote most of his master pieces.
He continued his writing as a result a book named ‘’Kapas Ke Agle Mausam Mein’’ was published. This book is a collection of poetry by Hari Om. It contains about 90 poems. His world of poetry loosely can be arranged in four parts. Firstly, the poems related to the problems of masses i.e, the issue of poverty, exploitation, hunger and unemployment.Second poems having political undertones, third poem is expressing the writer's love for nature and with rural nostalgia and fourth express deep romantics. He had written many poems on love and longings. At the same time one finds the poet crying silently for the cotton growing farmers committing suicide in the Vidarbh area of our country.
- Khwabon Ki Hansi’’ is another finest example of his writing which contains collection of Ghazals. 'Main tere pyar ka mara hua hun, Sikandar hun magar hara hua hun' or 'Muskurati hui subah ho tum' are some of the examples of his popular quotes. This book attracts youth and experienced reader alike with its variety of topics. Love is in the foundation but the urge to change the world for the people is equally prominent. His love for the poetry of Faiz has put him in the progressive tradition of writers. This book attracted the audience beyond Indian sub-continent and fetched Dr. Hari Om an international award named 'Vatayan' from London.
Surely he is a man of wisdom, an eminent personality and capable to cope with every situation smartly.
