Which Kind of Ball Mill Can be Used for Your Grinding Project
Posted: Mar 28, 2014
If you working in a mining company, you know that your company cannot continue with ore processing without the right grinding equipment. Grinding of ore minerals is one of the important mechanisms in mining after the excavation of ores and a ball mill is the perfect grinding machine to do the job. Apart from mining, ball millls are used in the production of cement, building construction, railway construction, road & bridge construction, metallurgy and list goes on. When it comes to mineral ore processing, grinding can be of two types – dry type or wet type according to the type of ore used. Basically, there are three types of ball mills which are categorized according to their primary uses and they are – horizontal, vertical and industrial ball mills.
Know about the three types of ball mills
- Horizontal Ball Mill – This type is most common and it consists of horizontal rotating cylinder which is usually detachable and it has a door where material to be grinded are loaded. To speed up the grinding process, cylindrical chamber is loaded with grinding balls (along with the material to be processed) which are made of stones or stainless steel. Once the material and the balls are loaded, the door is shut and the cylindrical drum is reinstalled horizontally on the mill and is allowed to rotate at a pre-determined speed.Click Here to know more about mechanisms of buoyancy for mining (mecanismos de flotacion para mineria).
- Vertical Ball Mill – Small ball mills or vertical ball mills are used in laboratories or in shops and they are about the size of a blender. The rotating drum of a vertical ball mill cannot be detached and the material to be processed is poured inside the drum through the top side, just like using a kitchen blender. For vertical ball mills, the grinding balls are available in different sizes depending upon the grinding requirements.
- Industrial Ball Mill – Industrial ball mills are much larger in size compared to other types of ball mills and they vary in size according to their purposes. The cylindrical drum of an industrial ball mill is horizontal and they consist of multiple chambers and these chambers are separated by smaller mesh screens. The grinding balls used in this type of ball mill are smaller but won't penetrate through the mesh screens. The material to be processed is loaded from one side of the chamber and during the grinding process the material is forced to go from one chamber to the next through the small mesh screens.
Approach a Reliable Dealer to Fulfill Your Grinding Needs
Due to budget constraints most manufacturers opt for used grinding equipment such as Allis Chalmer ball mills to accomplish their grinding projects. The best way to buy a used machine to approach an established equipment dealer who has wide inventory of used machines that are maintained in good working condition. Most dealers has put out their products in their official websites and posted with all the technical and non-technical aspects of each and every product available. After checking on the equipment you want to purchase, approach the dealer to fix a price that is acceptable to both sides.
