Dr. Hari Om IAS Singer of Faiz in the world

Dr. HARIOM is a 1997 batch Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS, currently in waiting list because he had arrested the M.P from Gorakhpur Yogi Aditynath but there is one more side to this multi-faceted Indian Administrative Service officer. He is a Ghazal composer and a famous singer. He is a man with golden soul and is polite in nature. His harmonious voice has bewitched all its listeners. He is widely known for being a singer of Faiz in India. He came to the spotlight once when he released his new song Socha Na Tha Zindgi online and his music albums include Intisaab and Roshani Ke Pankh etc. Even in the busy office schedules, the officer makes it a point to do his ‘riyaz’ for at least two hours every day. The rest of the free time is spent in writing and compositions, he added.

A graduate from the University of Allahabad and post-graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hariom was attracted to the world of ghazals from his childhood, and remained a big fan of Ghulam Ali and as a result he become a Faiz singer in the world.Some of his Ghazals are Mai tere pyar me maara hua hu Sikandar hu magar haara hua hu etc. A post-graduate in Hindi, this 44-year-old officer has a good command over the language, making him a lyricist and writer as well. He has also authored three books — Dhoop ka parcham (a collection of ghazals released in 2002), America meri jaan(collection of stories released in 2009) and Kapaas ke agle mausam me (a collection of poetry released in 2011). His position in office and the workload of the designation don’t deter him from continuing his passion. And that’s what made him a singer, lyricist and composer in addition to being a bureaucrat. An IAS of 1997 batch, Hari started learning music after being selected for the services. Wherever he got posted, he learnt music. But each time due to transfers, his teachers kept changing. However, his passion continued and he continued his passion of learning music. He has also done a noticeable research work "Rethinking the role of IEC in participatory rural sanitation in UP; drawing possible policy lessons from Bangladesh" which has already been published by a German publisher GlobalEdit and the UNICEF, Uttar Pradesh unit.

Born in Katari village of Sultanpur district (Amethi) of Uttar Pradesh, Hariom was a bright student from his childhood. But he was also gifted with an amazing voice. His interest in Hindi literature made him a PhD in Hindi literature which helped him composing his own songs. He also won awards such as Firaq Award and Rajbhasha Award for his literary contributions in Hindi literature. His wife, Malvika is also a singer and their two daughters - students of Class 10 and 6 respectively, also sing. After joining as IAS, he also completed a course from prestigious International Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands. Dr.Hari Om is recognized not only for his exemplary administrative competence with so many important profiles attached to his name but also for his flair of other capabilities.
