Introduction

Heavy equipment trailers have been commonly used for a long time at construction sites and the like. The trailers are supposed to carry heavy equipment and large machinery parts on them. In some cases, the trailers may need to have specially powered vehicles to tow them around as they are quite heavy and substantial. The design of the trailers also varies in accordance with the purpose for which they are built. Car trailers, for example, may have additional features attached to them as they sometimes need to carry several vehicles together.

Features

Taking the car trailer example forward, the trailer may have two bunks, one above the other and their beds may drop down so the car can easily be driven on (and off) the trailer. If not that, then the trailer may have attachable ramps in place. This will either be automatic (that come out when the rap is required) or manual (that will have to be attached by workers). There may also be additional features for securing the cars in place. These may include straps or hurdles for wheels (which disallow the wheel’s rotation).

Other options will allow the cars, or other equipment, to be lifted on to the air. The equipment will then be placed in the trailer after being lifted. Hydraulic trailer will left the bed or base of the trailer until it is placed flat against the ground. The equipment will then be driven on to the bed. A winch may sometimes be needed to make the transition smooth and successful. The steel used in the trailer’s construction will be of high quality to ensure the trailer’s own safety.

Wheels

It is highly probable that heavy equipment trailers will have a couple of axles installed in them. Along with the axles, there will be several 4x4 wheels that will be installed to make sure that they trailer can carry the heavy burden that has been placed on it. These wheels will have a very strong grip so that the minimum amount of damage in inflicted on the equipment. The axles on the trailers will be wider as the bed or base of the trailer will also be larger in width. Every axle will have more than four wheels for better steadiness ad firmness for the equipment.

Water Haulers

Water hauler trailers, as the name says, are designed specifically to transport large amounts of water from one place to another. Apart from construction sites, these are used in a number of other places where water may be required in huge quantities. These include famine stricken areas, places that are suffering from a low water supply (many third world countries) and to fill up a recreational water sport area or club. Water hauler trailers are supposed to have most of the features of the aforementioned trailers except for an extra water tank installed. The water tank should be fungi resistant.
