If you're a newbie looking to start vaping, then you need to understand the basics, and this entails an understanding of four key aspects of your vape:

  • The Juice
  • The Tank
  • The Charger
  • The Battery

An understanding of these four key areas will help you start your habit off on the best possible footing.

The Juice

Your choice of juice will be subjective. This means that no one will be able to give you solid suggestions pertaining to a particular juice. However, we can certainly help you to work out which juices you will like. Here are a few things that will help you decide:

  1. If you are looking for a mellow hit at the back of the throat, then opt for a juice that has high vegetable glycerine (VG) content. You should be looking for a juice with at least 80% VG (so a PG ratio of 20%).
  2. If you're looking for a harsher hit at the back of the throat, e.g. you're an ex-smoker, look for a juice that has a propylene glycol (PG) content of at least 30% (so a VG ratio of 70%).
  3. If you're a cloud chaser, then a higher VG content will help, so like point 1, you need a VG of at least 80%.
  4. If you're looking for a nicotine buzz, then you can buy juices with 3mg, 6mg, 9mg, 12mg, 15mg, 18mg, and 20mg. Anything higher than 20mg is illegal for sale in the UK. 20mg is very high, and the average vaper prefers around 12mg. You will probably need to experiment before you find the level that works for you.

We would recommend taking a visit to your local vapour shop UK with regards to juices. They will allow you to sample a variety of flavours and this will help you work out which ones you prefer. They also provide a wealth of information on the various ingredients of vape juice and the way they affect your experience.

The Tank

Tanks can be a little confusing to get your head around because there are so many different types. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Clearmosier: these are cheap and disposable and come with wicks and coils that cannot be swapped out. They make the best choice for beginners who are still learning about wicks and coils, and is our recommendation for a newbie.
  • Cartomisers: these have an extra piece of material that acts to drip the juice on the wick, and saves you from having to drip by pressing a button. These are controversial in the vape community simply because some people feel that the extra material "mutes" the flavour of the juice. At the same time, they are convenient. In short, they work best with stronger flavoured juices and for people who are in a rush.

These are really the only tanks you need to know about as a beginner.

The Charger

There are many chargers on the market, and you need to make your choice carefully. They drive a lot of power to the battery, and so they can be dangerous. For this reason, you must always buy your chargers from a reputable source, and as with the juices, we recommend that you buy from a bricks-and-mortar vapour shop UK. These guys need to follow strict health and safety rules, so you know that you are buying a charger that is safe, and that doesn’t over heat/charge the device.

We would recommend that you only ever charge your device while you are present. Don’t leave your equipment charging without supervision. They don’t take very long to charge, so this isn’t the inconvenient that you might expect.

The Battery

Again, the batteries can be dangerous so you must ensure that you buy top-quality batteries for your device, and again, we recommend visiting a bricks and mortar shop in order to buy your batteries, so that you know you are buying a battery that is safe.
