Owning a car is more of a status symbol for few but for few it is the passion for enjoying a rich lifestyle as part of which they would buy a high end car for which high end protection is must. Such people would never compromise on the interior and exterior of the house as well for which reason they do not prefer to park the car on the street. Such people definitely pick the traditional but the most preferable option of building a wooden garage for their car.

Why wooden garage? While materials like iron and steel can be used for the construction of the garage still much prefer wood for building the garage because of the lowered expenses to the owner for building them. Though the initial cost is less, there are chances of increased maintenance costs with the wooden garage which is not seen with the rest of the materials. That does not mean that wood is totally bad for constructing the garage as they have the benefits of not getting rust or dent like the metal versions would do. The only possible situation of how it would get damaged is through severe climatic conditions for which the remedies should be carefully followed.

Penetrating oil based stain: A smart solution to protect the garage exterior from both moisture content and from ultraviolet rays or sunlight is to use the penetrating oil based stain. In addition to providing protection the stain would help improve the natural appearance of the wood. While the task can be easily completed with the help of a roller or paint brush or garden sprayer make sure that it is not over coated. One disadvantage of the stain is that they take time to get dried and hence it has more chances of attracting mildew and dust when something sticks to this oily stain.

Frequency of painting: Does a single coat of stain painting would do all that is required for maintaining the garage for life long? No definitely not. So what is the alternative for this? One should plan for applying the stain regularly so that the stain is not faded off and the wood is not exposed to the severe weather conditions. The process for reapplying is as simple as cleaning with wood cleans and then reapplying the stain in the required proportion.

Insulation: While the exterior is protected with paints what about the interior like the ceiling and the walls? One good solution for this is to use insulation for providing sufficient heat management during winter season. Heat regulation is important if at all you have plan for using the same area as kids play area or in your work area as well. Insulation of higher level like the soundproofing foam or adding an old carpet to the wall or ceiling or the doors is required for music practice and other activities that make a lot of sound.

Space arrangements: So far we have been discussing about the maintenance of the interior and exterior leaving the main concern of arranging or organizing space within the garage. For example, you may want to hold the car spare parts or want to hold some additional books for all of which you would need the shelves. You may also want to make the car garage as the wonderful gym area for yourself in which case you can think adding more shelves that would be more opt for your personal use cases. For better matching to the wooden garage it is good to have the shelves that are also made of wood. For better life time you have to follow the same painting process at periodic intervals.
