The Five Qualities That Make Aluminium Radiators an Ideal Choice for Your Home
Posted: Jan 03, 2018
Are you struggling to decide which material to choose for your radiators? If you are, and you like the appearance of aluminium, then read this article. Today, we are going to explore the five qualities of aluminium that make it an ideal choice for use in radiators.
Aluminium is a great choice, and so it should come as no surprise to learn that it is one of the most popular choices of material for use in radiators, and here’s why:
1. Abundance
Aluminium is one of the most abundant metals on earth, and that has many different benefits for us. First, it reduces the impact on the environment. Because the metal is easy to access, we do not need to spend time, energy, and money on the extraction process. This reduces the carbon footprint of aluminium radiators significantly when compared to other types of radiator material.
Second, because the extraction process is cheap, and the metal is abundant, the metal is cheap. Aluminium radiators are amongst the most cost-effective on the market. You can buy small aluminium radiators for as little as £25 – most of them are more expensive than that (£25 will buy you a cheap and cheerful radiator), but we’re just showing you that they can be extremely well priced.
2. Lightweight
Aluminium is a strong buy lightweight metal, and for use in radiators, this has several advantages. First, it means that they are easy to transport and to install. This is not backbreaking work at all and most plumbers love it when we buy aluminium radiators for this reason.
Second, because we hang radiators from the wall, they can put stress on the wall, which can eventually lead to long-term damage to the wall. Aluminium is light, so it reduces much of the load. For this reason, you can sometimes even attach them to plaster walls, which you cannot do with other types of radiator.
3. Malleable
Aluminium is soft and easily modelled into different shapes. This makes aluminium an ideal choice of material for designer radiators that come in unusual shapes and design. Many of the high-end designer radiators are made of aluminium because it allows to the designers to do so much more with their creations.
4. Rust Resistant
Does the good news ever stop ending? We don’t think so. Aluminium is one of the most rust resistant metals around. It is extremely resistant to the oxidisation process. This means that they tend to show very little sign of corrosion, and that in turn, they minimise the impact of debris in the central heating system. This helps to keep your central heating system working for longer, and reduces the likelihood of damaging the boiler.
5. Attractive
Finally, aluminium is great to look at. Not only can you easily mould it into various shapes, from seam top radiators to shield radiators, but it also has a beautiful appearance. It’s smooth and streamlined and it is one of the most beautiful choices for use in a radiator.
