Saree is basically a female garment that consists of drape varying from four to five yards that are wrapped around the waist and this can be worn over the petticoat. There are so many styles of sari draping and the most famous is Nivi style which is originated in Visakhapatnam, India. Saree is a symbol of grace in Indian culture. The trend of wearing saree is becoming popular due to the Bollywood celebrities. From the ancient times, Gota Patti or phulkari embroidery saree work is much popular under the decorative traditional embroidery work. This kind of embroidery used in blouses or cholis. In Indian culture, red is favorite garment color for brides and everyone wants wedding saree in this color for any occasions. In south, women's basically wore several kinds of regional handloom sarees which is made from Silk, Cotton with embroidery or block printed work and tie-dye textiles. There are so many ‘Styles of draping Saree’ some of them are mentioned below:

  • Bengali Style Saree: Odia and Bengali style sarees are worn without pleats. In this style saree is wrapped around in anti-clock direction around the waist and when one side is done its start from another direction.
  • Gujarati/ Rajasthani Sarees: Bhandej is very popular fabric famous in Rajesthan. This kind of saree is almost similar to Nivi style saree where the pleats are done and after that saree is draped across the right shoulder.
  • Pakistani Sarees: In Pakistan, sarees are still popular during the time of special occasions. The wearing style of Pakistani saree is still similar to Rajasthani saree worn with full sleeve blouses.
