Upgrading or Remodeling your kitchen can be a difficult task, not to mention costly. If you’ve recently remodeled or are replacing older or broken appliances, it can be overwhelming. Depending on your budget and preference, it doesn’t have to be a big or expensive job. With a bit of homework and research you should be able to find great appliances for less than you think.

Don’t Be Picky. If you have your heart set on a particular brand, color or style you may not get the bargain you want. Open your mind and relax your standards a bit, you may be pleasantly surprised. Used can be just as good.

Always ask around. By letting people know you are looking, they may be able to help. Co-workers, family and friends are a great place to start. Someone might have a family member who works in the area or they may know someone selling theirs.

Check the internet. There are plenty of places to buy new and used appliances online. There are even some that will allow trading and goods for services. You may find some new appliances that someone has to sell quickly or some others that may be gently used. You never know what you can find so take a bit of time and check out some reputable buying and selling sites.

Auctions. These could be estate or foreclosure auctions, where you can find all kinds of bargains for a reduced price. You can look up these auctions in your areas, on the internet at their website or your local newspaper, and they will list all the items to be auctioned off that week. You will have to attend and bid, but that’s part of the fun.

Outlet stores. These places are full of goods at a reduced price. They are not usually next door but certainly worth checking out. You can find high quality kitchen appliances for reduced pricing. The products at the outlet store are all from one particular factory, so they are all the same brand, and lots of them. If you have a particular brand in mind, check out their online factory outlet site.

Retail. Certain stores, space permitting, will have a rotating stock of great brand name appliance. When a new line comes out, the older models will be reduced in price. They may not have all the newer features as the newer ones, but these are not usually so much necessary as cosmetic or convenience.

Also ask about floor model appliances. These are the ones on display and may be available once the newer styles come in. They are new but may have a bit of wear and tear due to being exposed and handled by the public. They can be greatly reduced in cost, so worth asking.

Buying that used or discontinued stove might not match everything but maybe you can make everything else match it. Be adventurous, be vigilant and do some leg work. You will find the appliances you need for the price you can afford.
