If asked to choose between the two, frozen and fresh, the average person would select the fresh product. This bias towards fresh products stems from the belief and some old wives’ myths how frozen products do not retain the same nutritious value or benefits.

While this may have been true two decades ago, or for some food products, for fish it isn’t anymore.

Technology has come a long way.

A research led by SINTEF, a Norwegian research company, administered multiple tests on frozen fish to investigate the effects of freezing and thawing under a range of conditions.

As frozen fish suppliers, what this research found was of utmost importance to us; we value our consumer’s health after all, and aim to provide seafood at top notch condition.

From the tests that were conducted by the research, it was found out frozen fish – if treated and frozen under right conditions – retains all its nutrients and health benefits.

What are the right conditions and methods?

Well, fish is preserved by the method called flash freezing, which we abide by.

As wholesale seafood suppliers, we purchase freshly caught raw material from our local market. The purchase is immediately iced and brought to our factories, which we make sure are nearby. The next step is to thoroughly inspect our seafood and make sure only the best is retained – the rest is returned.

After our raw material is properly graded and weighed, we flash freeze it. Flash freezing is the process of putting the product in the blast freezer at the temperature of -40 degree C where it is frozen into blocks for 9 hours.

This method makes sure not only do we come at par with the internationally set standards, but also provide you quality seafood. As frozen seafood supplier we believe it to be our responsibility to give you hygienic seafood.

The next and the last step for fish, among other final products, is for it to be set in cold stores at -18 degrees C, where it remains under the same cold conditions till it reaches the consumer.

Throughout the process, we make sure fish is not thawed and refrozen at anytime in order to prevent any ice burns and formation of crystals.

According to the prescribed correct method by the research and tests conducted, which we follow, this frozen fish when thawed remains perfect for up to 10 days without any loss of nutrients. That's a good news for those who love to eat seafood.

Happy healthy eating!
