4th Annual Roads & Highways Conference – A Global Summit for Mobility Professionals

The International Road Federation (IRF) is hosting a global summit for the mobility professionals around the world on the occasion of 4th Annual Roads & Highway Conference in Singapore. The conference will continue for three days – 09th April to 11th April 2018. With a goal to bring together the most innovative research, IRF jointly collaborates with Marcus Evans Forum to host the conference. With rising expectations of sustainable transport infrastructure, the IRF Conference will offer government agencies and road professionals to access the knowledge resources from innovations in project design. The global summit will provide state-of-the-art solutions to the visitors from the world's top equipment manufacturers. It includes - managing transportation assets, to readying road networks for the arrival of connected and autonomous vehicles.

Akhilesh Srivastava, Chief General Manager (IT & Highway Operations) of NHAI, will head the Indian delegation and is one of the distinguished speakers at the event. This conference will take place at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Singapore. This conference will cover various discussions, case studies and key presentations from well-renowned industry experts across the world. The main agenda of the conference is to redefine the road infrastructure, for which the various governments across Asia have joined hands to participate in this grand event. The roads and highways have always been the most important part of a nation’s growth and development, and it is essential to improve the commute experience of the users in order to stimulate the socio-economic development of a country.

The vital touch points of Akhilesh Srivastava’s speech are:

  • Integrating IT into the highway project lifecycle to enhance the speed and quality of construction
  • Performing a cost analysis to improve the economic benefits and maximize investment benefits
  • Electronic toll collection to minimize congestion and ensure faster mobility

As the cities are expanding and the number of vehicles is increasing, traffic congestion has become a major source of frustration for the road users and this is not just the case with India, the whole Asian continent is suffering from the similar issues. Hence, it becomes essential to redefine entire Asia’s infrastructure through implementing the new and innovative designs of roads and highways that will prepare the continent for future. This conference is providing a space for the change-makers and experts of the sector to exchange the knowledge of their expertise on a global platform. This will also help the Governments to strategize their investment in this sector in a better way to augment the socio-economic growth of their nations.

The summit will also offer delegates an opportunity to share research and acquire essential skills in designing and operating safer and more resilient road networks through sessions and training workshops aimed at highlighting effective policies and field-tested solutions. Highlighted issues addressed during the Congress include regional connectivity investments, congestion management, as well as measures to strengthen regional capacity and tackle traffic injury epidemic.

The conference will continue for three days from 09th April - 11th April 2018 and this 3-day conference will provide insights on best practice strategies, and techniques to reshape the urban landscape.
