KETUBAH TEXTS: CHOOSING AN APPROPRIATE TEXT Round text on Paper cut Ketubot:

Today, many young couples do not connect to the words of traditional Aramic Ketuba. Luckily nowadays we have alternative ketubah texts which available for all couples. While planning the wedding, you can choose text that truly expresses your own personal wishes and values, appropriate to vision of marriage you have in mind.

So, how can we choose the right kind of text for our wedding?

One step before choosing the text; especially if you are an Orthodox or Conservative member; it is most important to consult and ask Rabbi who conducts the marriage about all requirements. The text should be fits perfectly to the wedding preference: it matters if you’re doing it by the Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Reform, or interfaith way, as well as other possible ways.

With your Rabbis guide of specific requirements you may choose the most fit one; from a variety of texts.

The variety of and languages are also here for your decision:

We can offer you the Orthodox text in native Aramaic, which derives from the original old text that has been preserved by Jewish tradition for hundreds of years. This text is accepted by the RCA in America.

In edition; the Orthodox texts combine with English text. This version includes both traditional Orthodox text ( by the RCA) with an English codicil to the Aramaic text side by side; in a way that describes the marriage based on mutual commitment, faith and love.

Another option is a Reform text which includes Hebrew among with English: Written the full text in Modern Hebrew and in English. The text focuses on the mutual Jewish faith and your commitment to each other- to support and cherish wile marriage.

Last; but not least -Conservative text with Lieberman clause - English with Aramaic: A traditional Aramaic text with all additions and a fully explanation in English with all the brides’ rights.
