Once you've decide to hire a skip bin for all of your waste disposal needs, please keep in mind these Do’s and Don’ts when filling up your new skip bin:

Here is what you should DO with your skip bin:

Declare both the types and amounts of waste you need to dispose of

The type of waste you need to dispose of will impact not only the price of your skip bin hire, but also the type and size of skip bin you need. Make sure you sort your waste into the appropriate waste categories, of which we have 4 for you to choose from: General waste (appropriate for all your generic waste), Mixed Heavy waste (for large, bulky, or heavy items), Green waste (suitable for the majority of garden waste) and Rubble and Soil Waste (which includes bricks, tiles, pavers, sand or limestone etc).

Maximise your skip bin load.

Here is a top tip – place heavier items at the bottom of your skip bin to maximise your skip load. In addition, if you have furniture to dispose of we would recommend breaking it down prior to adding it to your skip bin to avoid leaving gaping holes in between your waste.

Keep an eye on your skip bin.

Although it can be hard to avoid, you will want to try and keep your skip on your own property as much as possible to help prevent neighbours or passers-by from using your skip as a free for all and throwing their trash away in it, despite you being the one who has footed the bill.

What are the DONT’s of skip bin hire?

Don’t put any prohibited waste in your bin.

Although we do our best to to cover all of your waste disposal needs, there remains a select few things that can never go in any of our skip bins, regardless of the waste category you select. These restrictions include the disposal of any asbestos, other hazardous materials such as chemicals or drums, tyres or other car parts, batteries, flammable liquids, oils or paint and gas bottles, as well as food waste, food products or dead animals.

Don’t over fill your skip bins.

Whether you have hired a 2 cubic meter skip bin or a 10 cubic meter skip bin, you must ensure that you don't fill your skip bin above the rim of the skip as this makes your bin unsafe for transport. If your bin is overfilled, we may have to remove items, at your cost, so it can be transported safely.
