Things Unique Engagement Ring Designers Will Never Say To You
Posted: Apr 09, 2014
The shift in paradigm within the engagement ring market in recent years has opened up space for unique engagement ring designers to exercise their creativity and respond to the high customer demand for bespoke engagement and bridal jewellery.
This trend has a number of positives when compared to high-street retail shopping, not the least of which is the greater variety of options it allows for, and the almost infinite number of styles which can be created, where the limit is almost literally that of the jewellers’ and the customers’ imaginations.
However, perhaps the biggest perk of this type of service is the fact that unique engagement ring designers are not simply working to sell anyone any ring – they are working to sell you your ring. What this means is that they will work closely with their client every step of the way, and ensure the eventual finalised bauble is as close to the commissioner’s dream vision as possible.
This, in turn, leads to the existence of a certain number of things you might hear high street jewellers say, but will almost never hear unique engagement ring designers say, at least if they are still trying to make a sale and help you concoct your dream jewel. Below are some of the main statements which fit into that category.
- I can’t do that’
Unless your request is an impossibly unreasonable one, no bespoke designer is ever going to flat-out tell you they cannot do something. These artisans are known for going above and beyond to try and make their baubles match up to the ones in their customers’ heads as much as possible, so you can rest assured that if it can happen, your jeweller will go to extremes to make sure it does happen.
- You have to accept my choice, I’m the jeweller’
The odd designer might give you this attitude, but the majority won’t. The very livelihood of unique engagement ring designers depends on customer satisfaction, so they would never knowingly force a client into choosing an item they did not like. They may counsel you and work with you to make life easier for both parties, but it is highly unlikely that they will press you into a choice.
- I don’t like your design’
Once again, no bespoke designer whose client comes up with an outline for their ring is going to tell them they don’t like it. They may suggest alterations to make it even more beautiful, or at most say that it does not fit into their design style, but to be that insensitive would be to lose custom. Again, customer satisfaction is key.
You can rest assured, then, that your custom ring designer will never be rude, inconsiderate or uncooperative to you, at least not without a very valid reason. The designing of a bespoke ring is a partnership, and the party making the sale will certainly not want to be in breach of it!
