Lots of people opt for a large four wheel drive to carry their kids around and occasionally take a longer trip towing a caravan. However, it's nice to know that your SUV can handle off road conditions. When considering the new Isuzu MUX for sale, Perth drivers may wonder whether this model can cope with off road, so here we will explore this topic further.

The Stats:

The new Isuzu MUX is powered with a turbocharged, four cylinder 3.0 litre diesel engine. This offers 130 kW power and 430 Nm torque, and it is also now Euro 5 compliant. This powertrain revision now means that the engine produces 380 Nm torque in the 1700 to 3500 rpm range. This is a wider band than on previous models. It also peaks at 430 Nm at 2000 to 2200 rpm, which is a flexible band to work with.

The engine is paired with an automatic six speed transmission and offers a combined fuel consumption of 7.9 litres per 100 kilometres. The model also has a 3000 kilogram brake towing capacity and is available in either a rear or all wheel drive.

The exterior design allows for 220 millimetres of ground clearance, which means you can clear most terrain.

Stability Control Modes:

A highlight of the new Isuzu MUX for sale, Perth drivers, will benefit from is the three stability control modes. Mode one keeps everything on, so any sideways movement or rear twitches cause aggressive activation of the stability control. If you've built momentum to climb a hill, this mode may limit movement.

If you're hitting some serious off road conditions, switching to the initial "off" setting will disable traction control and stability control. This will allow the wheels more free slippage and won't intervene during sideways movement. This mode doesn't disable the MUX's safety systems as the brake traction control stimulates the limited slip differential. This brakes a specific wheel to prevent spinning and directs more torque to the other wheels for greater traction. Finally, you can turn everything off, but only very confident off roaders would use this mode.

The Updates and Off Road Performance:

The updates to the new Isuzu MUX have enhanced its off road prowess. The additional torque creates impressive off road performance, and the decent ground clearance means you can avoid lots of potential problems. There is also proper underbody protection, so you can feel confident even if you are wading in boggy ground. So, whether you want a serious off roader or just want to be able to enjoy the occasional off road adventure, the new MUX is certainly up to the challenge.
