Founded in 1806, Secunderabad is a twin city of Hyderabad. Geographically, both the cities are segregated by the Hussain Sagar Lake, but come under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) municipality of Hyderabad.

A city with a rich history and a Colonial past, Secunderabad had been one of the backward locations in Telangana. Several colonies in the city were witnessing social issues. Besides, the residents in the city were living in wretched conditions.
