Some drinks and food are best served cold, and if you love to go on road trips, you will want a convenient way to keep them that way. A portable camping car fridge can be practical for frequent travellers who require a dependable cooling system that you can take everywhere. It runs off the 12-volt electrical system of your car to keep your food and drinks cold, and in some cases, frozen for as long as it is running. It may cost a bit more than a conventional cooler, but it eliminates your need to keep buying and replenishing the ice, making it more cost-effective in the long run.

You will be spoilt with choice as you explore the selection of portable camping car fridges online. Reputable retailers carry a wide variety of portable fridges in different types and sizes. For caravans, a larger capacity fridge will be practical to ensure that more food and drinks can be stored in it. Campers may require a smaller, compact, and easy to carry portable camping car fridge that can fit in the backseat, beside you, or in the trunk.

You should be able to find portable camping car fridges in sizes like 25L, 35L, 40L, and 50L. Larger capacity camping fridges come in 60L, 65L, and 80L or higher. Compact 25L fridges, or anything smaller should be able to keep your food and drinks cold. They may be convenient if you need to keep certain medicines refrigerated, too. For weekend camping trips, consider a 35L or 40L portable camping car fridge.

Portable fridges are either two-way or three-way, which refer to their power source. Two-way fridges rely on mains electricity or battery power, and three-way ones run on either gas or mains/battery electricity. The Two-way compressor portable camping fridge works like your home fridge but runs on the car’s 12-volt battery or mains electricity. They are ideal for most applications, and to make them more efficient, consider using them with a small solar panel. Three-way absorption portable fridges rely on gas flow heat exchangers, and while quiet, they require a level area to operate, and their performance is not that good when compared to compressor fridges. However, they can be practical if you are going on extended camping trips as they are very fuel efficient when running on gas.
