Hardening domestic fuel prices are likely to weigh on the Reserve Bank's rate setting panel, MPC, at its 3-day meet from June 4.This is the first time that the Monetary Policy Committee will meet for three days due to "administrative exigencies". "The MPC will meet on June 4-6, 2018 for the Second Bi-monthly Monetary Policy Statement for 2018-19. The monetary policy review will take into account the retail inflation which rose to a 4-month high of 3.18 per cent in April mainly on account of increasing prices of petrol and diesel. The Prime Minister Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency (MUDRA) scheme, launched by the Modi government in 2015, is quite literally showering small amounts on people who were until now turned away by banks. The biggest beneficiary of the MUDRA scheme, which aims to disburse small amounts ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 million, are women and religious minorities across the country. Almost eight of every 10 accounts opened for people availing of loans of less than Rs 50,000 were for women. On an average, every woman who availed of a loan in the lowest category got more than Rs 23,000 in loans from banks

The International Energy Agency has said there will be a net increase in carbon emissions due to electric vehicles when considering life-cycle emissions in countries, like India and China, which have a carbon-intensive power generation mix. In its report on electric vehicle, IEA says under the New Policies Scenario, India will reach an 11 per cent EV market share by 2030 (for all modes combined, excluding two- and three-wheelers where the share will be 70 per cent). Under the EV30@30 Scenario outlook, India’s electric mobility transition could develop a favourable policy environment and achieve a 25 per cent EV market share by 2030 across all modes, except two and three-wheelers where over 70 per cent of sales will be electric by the same year.
